The history of wheat beer is also the history of the Schneider brewing family and its famous Schneider Weisse. A brewery of great history and tradition, Schneider can be credited with resurrecting a style of beer that came close to extinction in the late 1800s and has built a reputation of being the most distinguished and exclusive purveyor of wheat beers in Germany.

The Schneider Weisse Brewery has been in existence since 1607 making it the oldest wheat beer brewery in Bavaria. Since receiving the exclusive rights from King Ludwig II in 1872 to brew wheat beers, the Schneider family has been setting the standard with beers like the Schneider Unser Aventinus Tap 6 Wheat Doppelbock.

Creamy yet with a certain crispness thanks to the wheat, the Tap 6 is crazy delicious. Its richness is evident thanks to its deep ruby colour that is accented by a frothy head. The nose has notes of dark candy, raisins, bananas, spice, liquorice and bubblegum. Tasting like it smells, its full-bodied mouthfeel leaves a warm yet balanced lingering finish. It’s hard to find a better example of the style—it’s just gorgeous.

German Perfection
Review by
It’s a German beer, can’t go wrong. Strong, dark and tastes of burnt caramel. Lovely beer.
One of the best

Gorgeous drink, full of flavours and ranging from sweetish and fruity at first then deeper richer taste that lasts on the tongue
Worth reordering, a mellow dark ale, goes down well!

A cloudy, dark ale that doesn't bite but has a mellow mouth feel and goes down all too quickly! This went on my reordering list. Very enjoyable if not the very best of beers if had.
