Williams Bros. Birds & Bees

Williams Bros. Birds & Bees

William Bros started off as a home brew shop in Glasgow and were ticking along quite happily until 1988 when one day a lady wandered in with a recipe. The recipe was in Gaelic for leann fraoch (heather ale) and had been handed down through the generations, but she didn't know how to brew it.  The two got together and after a period of experimentation the first William Bros beer was born!

Style Pale Ale
Country British Beers
ABV 4.3%
Serving Temp 10 to 13°C
Bottle Size 500ml
Infused with fragrant elderflowers and lemon zest, Birds & Bees was brewed to be enjoyed in the garden on a sunny afternoon. Golden in colour with aromatic floral notes and heady elderflower, this fruity summer ale has a light biscuit body and finishes dry with zingy citrus.

A not so bad light pale ale, nothing harsh on the taste buds but nothing memorable (Posted on 13/12/2017)

  • Not bad at all

    Review by Judge

Not a bad pale ale, not overly hopped but loads of taste to it (Posted on 28/11/2017)

A decent summer time drink. Definitely some better alternatives of its kind, but still worth a shot for the price (Posted on 27/11/2017)

I scored 7 for this hoppy smelling and tasting ale. A light brown excellent taste and not a bit bitter - just sweet. (Posted on 19/10/2017)

    Review by Ed

Not bad by any stretch, tasty in a way just a little plain and boring, wouldn't be a must have but would have it again (Posted on 20/07/2017)

  • Golden delicious

    Review by Good Head

Golden and clear with a big frothy head. Very refreshing and bitter, dry with some good floral and citrus flavours. (Posted on 17/07/2017)

  • Plain

    Review by tommy

Plain beer, not a punchy flavour to be had, nothing bad, nothing to remember but a decent drink (Posted on 28/06/2017)

  • Pretty standard golden ale

    Review by lenoz

Apart from a fairly pretty label, there is little to separate this from old-style British golden ales that preceded the craft era. It's not terrible but it'd have to be pretty golden and summery outside to impress. (Posted on 28/06/2017)

  • Not all that

    Review by Orange

Not brilliant, a little plain to be honest but refreshing in its own way, (Posted on 05/06/2017)

  • Sharp and crisp beer

    Review by Padi20

Poured into my current favourite Beer Hawk Teku tasting glass . Golden colour with a full off-white head proudly sitting on top. On first sight their is Plenty of carbonisation, as you could clearly see the bubbles rising up to the head. Zesty, yeasty aroma, definate summery smells from the garden and has a true floral feel to it.

Sharp and crisp in the mouthfeel, the taste being of green hops and citrus fruits and yet not being overly bitter or sour. Refreshing would be a good term to use for this beer and it certainly would have been nicer drinking this with a summer BBQ.

Decent enough, but fairly non-descript, would drink again but wouldn't go out of my way to buy it. Nice thirst quencher on a hot day. (Posted on 01/10/2016)

Refreshing but seems to be lacking any depth. Quite flowery in aroma with a citrus finish. Quite drinkable but nothing special. (Posted on 13/09/2016)

  • A light summery ale for a cold wintry evening

    Review by Stu

Cast those wintery shadows aside and open up a bottle of sunshine. This light, summery golden ale is great on a cold dreary winter afternoon. Reminds you there\'s sunshine (hopefully) and blue skies to come. You can almost hear the skylarks singing as the amber draft flows down your throat. (Posted on 11/01/2016)

  • Good, but there's better.

    Review by Llamaman

A very refreshing and drinkable beer. Would probably go down a storm on a warm sunny day. Drinking it on a cold November evening probably isn't playing to it's strengths, but I think there's better golden beers on the market, albeit often at a higher cost.
Still, it's way better than the majority of golden beers churned out at this price point so I'm probably being picky. (Posted on 01/11/2015)

Despite these being some of the most affordable beers on the site, don\'t think Williams Bros. have cut any corners, this is a light, refreshing but balanced drop (Posted on 06/09/2015)

  • Summer Quencher

    Review by Ady Gray

Williams Bros make fine beers. Williams Bros have made another here. Light, fresh, quaffable; this is summer drinking stuff. Why am I drinking it in February then? Because I can... (Posted on 27/02/2015)

  • Thecbrother's Summer sunshine

    Review by Jack Swans

Williams bros. Brewing is the most rounded brewery in Scotland. No hype means they underplay their hand too much. B&b is a lighter side of their range, and a great Summer thirst-quencher. But is not the highlight of their beers. Try their dark beers. (Posted on 30/01/2015)

  • Subtle & Summery

Some subtle flavours here, nice and easy drinking, i imagine it would be even better on a hot sunny day (Posted on 08/01/2015)
