Clear and golden with a tight white head. This has aromas of orange peel, some grass and lemon too. This is clean and crisp, an incredibly smooth and well rounded pils.
Some of the country's best breweries have emerged out of the homebrew scene, and Weird Beard are probably the best example. Gregg Irwin and Bryan Spooner (big beards), made the hugely successful transition to a commercial brewery after winning award after award for their home brewed beers. They launched Weird Beard in 2012, and have since made hundreds of marvellous beers… none boring. As they write: “We love upfront, in-your-face, hop-focused beers, along with classic styles. Proudly experimental and happily non-conformist.” Cheers to that
Alongside the core beers – Little Things That Kill, Mariana Trench, Five O’Clock Shadow, Black Perle – we’ll always be picking up those specials that catch our eye. Pig Smasher anyone?
