Thornbridge describe themselves as a "collaboration of innovation, passion and knowledge" and they are spot on. Their beers are not pasteurised or filtered and are the epitomy of raw craft beer at its finest. Jaipur is their most well known but the rest of the range really stands up to the test too. Beer Hawk loves their beer! A golden pour with a fluffy white head and abundant tropical aromas. A little pine on the nose too and an undertone of citrus. The taste is resinous and piney with plenty of citrus, with some mango. You’ll also detect some sweet biscuity elements, and a refreshingly clean and bitter finish.

Brewery Info

A forerunner of the British craft beer movement, Thornbridge Brewery was started in the grounds of the eponymous Thornbridge Hall in the heart of the Peak District. Aiming to make a range of cask beers with a modern twist, they’ve won over 350 national and international awards - pretty good going for what started out as a tiny 10-barrell brewery.

A couple of interesting facts for you - the co-founder of Brewdog actually started out at Thornbridge back in the day, helping to create Thornbridge’s flagship IPA Jaipur, and in 2014 Thornbridge won “Best Drinks Producer” in the BBC Good Food Awards….beating Brewdog to the top spot. Although they’re seen as a more traditional brewer, Thornbridge also has a good mix of ‘new’ creations making them a firm favourite with us.

Great if you like drinking pine resin
Review by
I’m not a huge IPA lover however I found this one pretty good and felt it delivered everything I’m looking for in a good IPA. It’s strong and extremely bitter and it works. Who would have thought a glass full of pine resin would be so delicious?

Very bitter flavour which overwhelms a lot of the other flavours.
