We’re not sure how an oxymoron tastes but we imagine it’s like Stewart Brewing Black IPA’s satisfying blend of a bold hop character and an appealing malt profile. Brewed in Edinburgh with Magnum, Galaxy and Centennial hops, the Black IPA is satisfyingly interesting.

A jet-black pour is topped off by a creamy tan head. Notes of pine, grapefruit and orange-y citrus are complemented by hints of coffee, roasted malts, and caramel. With all of the hop character the finish is not as bitter as one would think, instead it is smooth and easy-drinking.

Stewart Brewing Black IPA won a Gold Medal at the World Beer Awards 2015 in the category United Kingdom - Black IPA.

"Obiwan" sums it up nicely. If even a Jedi master can approve of the dark side of the brewing force, they're doing something right.

Betsy Black black. Aroma Grapefruit and orange tinged with licorice.Taste of blackberries to start, then smokey bread, apple, grapefruit, some pine. Very good carbonation. Got to say I'll stick to Thornbridge Wild Raven for this style.
