Multi-award winning, Salopian’s Darwin’s Origin is easily a benchmark for the English bitter style. Notes of toffee, florals and spice with a good malty body are complemented by a long, lingering bitterness and delicate carbonation. Refreshing and quaffable—understandably a winner!

Shropshire’s Salopian Brewery has been brewing their beers with one foot firmly planted in tradition and the other in innovation since 1995.

A very nice beer, I'm a big IPA fan so this is towards my liking. Drinks a lot like an English IPA, which I was more than happy with! (Posted on 02/08/2016)

  10. Salopian at their finest Review by irving297

This modern bitter showcases everything great about the boys from Shrewsbury. Perfectly balances a traditional style with modern hops. (Posted on 17/07/2016)

  11. A plesant surprise Review by Hoos
    Rating

Gently pouring a this gorgeously coloured copper bitter releases a wafts of citrus orchards in their spring blossom. The head eviscerates itself quickly leaving only a skeletal foam that stubbornly clings to the rim of the glass. Upon contact with oral cavity we are at first a wash in bitter zesty flavours, but before they have a chance to overwhelm the pallet they diffuse with such sublimity that one can barely remember their existence and we are once again compelled taste. This ritual continues for at least two bottles before we begin to recollect. (Posted on 15/07/2016)

  13. There's a pun here for the beagle-eyed. Review by Llamaman
    Rating

A top-notch copper ale. Resists the urge to go all 'craft' and blow your head off with hops - this is a more traditional 'pint of best' kind of ale, and nothing wrong with that when you do it this well.
Solid malty, toffee body dressed with a delicate hoppiness. (Posted on 20/03/2016)

  14. Different in a good way Review by Savmatt

  23. hopilicious Review by wayne
    Rating

I love Salopian. Every beer is a delight, this one is hoppy, bitter, and has a lot of citrus, well to me it does anyway. A bit like a really good IPA but in my opinion better. (Posted on 02/04/2015)

  24. Evolved... Review by Ady Gray
    Rating

Aptly named, award winning beer. Evolution is part of the Salopian philosophy and here they have followed through to give a complex beer that really satisfies.. (Posted on 23/03/2015)
