Liefmans Fruitesse

Liefmans, one of the cult breweries of Belgium since 1679, have been producing beers of distinctive flavour derived from a process of mixed fermentation in open vessels, a blending of young and old beers and bottle-aging in the cellars at the Oudenaarde Brewery.
Style Fruit Beers
Country Belgian Beers
ABV 4.20%
Serving Temp 10 to 12°C
Bottle Size 330ml
Liefmans Fruitesse is a classic Belgian fruit beer. Aromas and flavours are dominated by cherries, raspberries, and other berries along with a bit of marzipan. Satisfyingly sweet but not cloying, the fruits are on full-display and are accented by a bit of extra sweetness with no hops to distract. Moderately carbonated yet smooth and creamy, this sparkling ruby-red drink is an enjoyable fruit beer.

Product Reviews

  • Not bad but not the best

    Review by Faris

I do enjoy a lambic however I found these to be a little on the disappointing side. They are nice enough to drink but for once I would agree with others and say one of these at a time is plenty. (Posted on 14/12/2017)

  • Good, but not the best

    Review by EJ

Though an enjoyable fruit beer, there are other more balanced beers available. If you don't want a fruit beer thats particularly sweet, then this is a solid bet; especially at such good value. (Posted on 26/11/2017)

  • Fruit beer

By far the best fruit beer around shame you can only purchase in limited store but thanks for beer hawk (Posted on 24/11/2017)

    Unexpectedly refreshing (Posted on 20/08/2017)

  • Unexpected

    Review by pathud

As this is a Belgian fruit beer, I expected a punch and a lot of sweetness. Nay. The fruity taste is more balanced and this is a very enjoyable beer. Other fruit beers can be too sugary and quickly sickening. This one is not. Will definitely order this one again. (Posted on 09/08/2017)

  • Very good

    Review by Fiasco

Best Belgian fruit beer I've tried (Posted on 09/06/2017)

  • Nice Fruit beer

    Review by JB

I am not a fan of fruit beers I bought this one for my wife. She enjoyed it and will be ordering some more (Posted on 04/04/2017)

  • The perfect fruit beer!

    Review by G

A light and refreshing fruit beer without being too over powering and sugary. Ideally served chilled, it tastes just as it does as on draught in Belgium - delicious. Whilst the flavours are very subtle, it makes for a nice smooth and enjoyable drink... especially in the sunshine! (Posted on 04/04/2017)

  • Wifes favourite

    Review by Danessa

This is a delicious fruit beer. Much more quaffable than any others, as slightly less acidic and tart but still with full flavour. My wifes absolute favourite (Posted on 10/02/2017)

  • Quite refreshing

    Review by BeerHead

Loads of fresh red berries aromas. Bright red colour. Its quite sweet for my taste, but its still quite enjoyable. (Posted on 09/02/2017)

  • Great

    Review by Chris & Rog

Perfect with lots of ice. Refreshing summer drink and a nice session beer too. Would recommend to beer and cider lovers alike. (Posted on 08/11/2016)

  • Artificial

    Review by Beer Baron

Tasted over-fizzy and artificial, like cheap cherryade. Glad I tried it, but won't be ordering again. (Posted on 10/07/2016)

  • Fresh & fruity

    Review by Good head

Really good fruit beer. Very full and zingy. Sweet and also tart in taste. Really drinkable and has a great dark red colour. (Posted on 23/06/2016)

  • Tasty and refreshing

Very fruity and refreshing , ideal summer drink.
Best served ice cold. (Posted on 07/04/2016)

  • Light and fruity

    Review by Goldy

Bought this beer for my wife. Smells fruity and she said that it also has a very berry aftertaste. Not very sweet. However she likes sweet drinks so a beer drinker might find it a little too sweet. It's light and great for a warm summers day. The more chilled the better. (Posted on 23/03/2016)

  • Its Frothy Man

    Review by Ninja Terrier

Very lively and reminded me of Cheeryade. I wont be having another of these that's for sure. (Posted on 18/03/2016)

  • Easy drinking but a bit sweet

    Review by k3VW

I enjoy the sour fruit beers this one was a bit sweet for me. As others have said a bit like the fruity ciders rather than classic kriek or framboise Belgian styles. (Posted on 05/02/2016)

  • Pretty sweet...but still good!

    Review by Bobmunkhouse

A little bit too sweet but still nice...maybe could be a bit more smooth if that makes sense... (Posted on 01/02/2016)

  • Good but not as good as....

    Review by Nate

Not as nice as the Framboise (also available at beerhawk) - but certainly not a bad fruit beer. Refreshing, if not a little sickly. (Posted on 04/01/2016)

  • Fruity

    Review by Jazzjogger

Just enough sweetness to make this very drinkable. (Posted on 03/01/2016)

  • Sweet...

    Review by JLo

Do very much prefer the Lambic side of this type of beer but not bad super chilled. Does have a cider feel. (Posted on 14/10/2015)

  • Fruity Cider

    Review by Ay Pee Horne

Like a mixed berry cider, not beery at all. Decent enough for what it is. Refreshing. (Posted on 09/09/2015)

  • Too sweet

    Review by steven gilbert

Not really fruity, very sweet and fizzy. Not really beer-like, as someone said more like a cider. Not a bad drink though, just not what I expected. (Posted on 01/06/2015)

  • Tasty and refreshing

    Review by Spaci

Love this beer, bursting with fruit flavours and very refreshing. My favourite of all the fruit beers. (Posted on 04/05/2015)

  • Fruity, fizzy and sweet

    Review by Slapbang

This is one for people who enjoy fruit beers or for people who like fruity ciders.
The fruit taste is good but edges on the too sweet side for me personally although I can see why people like it (girlfriend loved it).
Still great for a refreshing summer drink. (Posted on 10/04/2015)

  • Swwet

    Review by Ady Gray

Sweet. Too sweet for me. I like the odd fruit beer but prefer the Lambic style of sour fruit (Posted on 22/03/2015)

  • Fruity

    Review by Congo Red

Lovely, refreshing fruit flavours to the fore, although these completely drown out any taste of beer. A fine example of a modern fruit beer though, second only to the, now sadly defunct, Melville's. (Posted on 25/11/2014)

  • Confectionery

    Review by Simon

Sorry not my thing - this is the beer equivalent of fruit cider. 'nuff said. (Posted on 21/11/2014)

  • Fruit, Refreshing Surprise

Tried this at Huddersfield Food and Drink festival and was blown away by the really pleasant fruit flavour. Lots of different fruits to identify, very refreshing and no unpleasant after taste. (Posted on 18/10/2014)
