Details
Brewed and bottled in the town of the same name in North Wales, the brewery uses water from Snowdonia and insists on bottle conditioning all the beers believing that traditional methods and natural carbonation make the best beer.
Style Pale Ale
Country British Beers
ABV 3.60%
Serving Temp 8 to 9°C
Bottle Size 500ml

Lovely strong taste despite its low abv, which makes this a nice session ale. This great example of a Golden Ale has aromas of fresh hops on the nose and a bitter taste with a smooth mouthfeel.

Product Reviews

  • Not Bad at All

    Review by Ian

A decent session beer from a great brewery. (Posted on 27/07/2017)

  • Solid session beer

    Review by JohhH

Nothing out of the ordinary but a good session ale, Clogwyn Gold is an easy-going, drinkable golden ale with more flavour than it relatively low alcohol content would suggest (Posted on 10/07/2017)

  • Average session bitter

    Review by Marit

Orange brown pour with no head and light aromas of caramelised citrus. Horrible metallic bitterness overpowers a mild malt body. Some lemon and spice notes, but nothing really jumping out! In the mouth, it’s a little too oily for my liking and it’s rather flat. Certainly nothing to write home about. (Posted on 28/06/2017)

  • Gold Indeed

    Review by Good Head

Golden and clear with a foamy head. Really tasty bitterness that is very easy drinking. (Posted on 20/06/2017)

  • Easy

    Review by AdyG

Easy-going, drinkable golden ale. Nothing spectacular but a good session ale (Posted on 10/02/2017)

  • Boring

    Review by MaHix

This beer didn't excite me. After reading about it and the glowing reviews I was left feeling a little bored and disappointed with it. (Posted on 04/02/2017)

  • Gold..oh...always believe in

    Review by Grrrroooooovvvy

Fruity lilt on the tongue, maltyish biscuit middle, dry bitter almost sharp finish, lingering notes of mango (Posted on 29/11/2015)

  • Slightly better than average.

    Review by Steve

There's nothing wrong with this beer, but nothing special about it either. Having said this, it is refreshing and the flavour isn't overpowering so possibly a good choice for beginner ale drinkers. (Posted on 17/05/2015)

Tropical fruit aromas followed by sweet malts with a gentle hoppy bitter aftertaste. (Posted on 03/05/2015)

  • A welcome in the hillsides

    Review by AdyG

Naturally conditioned in the bottle and made from mountain water from Snowdonia make this an ideal session ale. One of the true greats... (Posted on 12/01/2015)
