Hello beeries! Welcome to October. There's a chill in the air and the leaves are turning red and gold, but that's not the only change afoot - as you probably know by now, we've made a little change how Beer Club works. You can now choose between a Small, Medium or Large case: that's eight, twelve, or fifteen excellent beers. Of course, it's easy to change your subscription level, so if you fancy more or less beer each month you can switch case sizes as necessary. That's the big announcement out of the way, now it's time for what you've all been waiting for - the beer! That's the big announcement out of the way, now it's time for what you've all been waiting for - the beer! We're excited to let you known that Small, Medium and Large cases will all contain Anchor Liberty Ale's 40th Anniversary Limited Edition. Anchor Liberty Ale was first brewed on April 18, 1975 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Paul Revere's famous 'Midnight Ride' which let his fellow Revolutionaries know that the British Army was coming to arrest them! Although it's pretty much routine today, back in 1975 dry-hopping was largely unheard of in America. Liberty Ale became the first modern dry-hopped American beer, using the now ubiquitous Cascade hop, which was also new and unusual in the 1970s USA. A revolutionary beer in more ways than one! This year is the 40th anniversary of Liberty Ale's first brew, and the beer has been released in limited edition commemorative cans - perfect for us this side of the pond, as cans are brilliant at preserving that gorgeous Cascade hop character.

All case sizes include Left Hand Good JuJu, a hoppy pale ale brewed with ginger. Zesty lemon and floral hops are spiced up by a zingy ginger character which is prominent but not overwhelming; Good JuJu is surprisingly refreshing, with a subtle kick which will brighten up blustery autumnal days. Another marvellous hoppy beer featuring in each of the Small, Medium and Large cases is Rogue Nation Brutal IPA, full of fresh, punchy pine and marmalade aromas. Juicy pineapple and grapefruit flavours burst from the glass in this sweet and resinous IPA, finishing with a lingering bitterness that compels you to take another sip.

In the Medium and Large cases you'll also find, among others, Ilkley The Mayan and Celt Bleddyn. The Mayan is a rich chocolate chipotle stout inspired by ancient Mayan recipes, with dark chocolate bitterness, a smooth, sweet body and gently smoky chilli heat, perfect to warm up with on those chilly evenings as the nights are drawing in. The theme of historical inspiration continues with Bleddyn, named for a Welsh king who ruled until 1075 (which also happens to be the number of the beer's original gravity). Sharp grapefruit, orange and resinous pine notes meet sweet toffee malts, with a dry, pithy bitterness throughout.

Subscribers to the Large case will enjoy a nod to the mods with Quadrophenia, a collaboration between Siren Craft and Jackie O's Pub and Brewery in Ohio. Trappist yeast and Belgian Candi sugar give Quadrophenia an authentic Belgian quad vibe, while an extra whack of roasted malt puts a dark, rich spin on things. Fruity, sticky and sweet, with gooey caramel, brown sugar, dark fruits and a hint of coffee, this is one intense beer.

We hope that this sneak peek has got you excited about our new and improved Beer Club - don't forget to update your profile with your new subscription preference, so we can send you the case size that's perfect for you! Cheers!
