Birra del Borgo Re Ale

Birra del Borgo Re Ale

Style IPA
Country Italian Beers
ABV 6.4%
Serving Temp 10 to 12 °C
Bottle Size 330ml
The Re Ale is a stunning IPA that put Birra del Borgo on the map. Influenced by American IPAs there's no surprise that nice American hop aromas are prominent on the nose. The malts also play a big role with considerable caramel, dates, grainy breads, and biscuit characteristics rising up in both the aroma and flavour. A firm bitterness cuts through the malty-sweetness and lingers just long enough to entice you into the next sip without being overwhelming. The Re Ale IPA is nicely balanced and drinkable yet, fortunately, a hint of the alcohol peeks through just to remind you that this beer is indeed 6.4%! If you like pale ales and gentle American IPAs, the Re Ale is a great one for you.

  • Red ale

    Review by Michael

I bought this thinking it was an ipa, more an american red ale. Still decent though (Posted on 10/12/2017)

  • Tasty

    Review by Toad

Cloudy amber, visible carbonation, with a cream head and some good lacing. Aroma of citrus and spices. Tastes straight bitter, with a good balance of ale malts, yeasty funk and grapefruit, lingering, from the hops. Medium body, creamy, soft carbonation and long bitter and hoppy finish. Quite a decent ale, tasty and with a rich mouthfeel. (Posted on 23/07/2017)

    Review by energizedwork

Great body of an amber beer with a IPA profile (Posted on 01/04/2017)

  • Ok but no more than that

    Review by Andy C

Got this to try something different. It was pleasant enough. Less bitter than a lot of the craft pales, amber, slight fruit notes but nothing massive.

Not really my thing but worth a try. (Posted on 03/03/2017)

  • Hoppy Christmas

    Review by Essex Boy

Bought as part of a number of beers from specific countries as a present for my son (remembering various trips we had taken). Bit hoppy for me, I don't have the sophisticated palate that other reviewers have so didn't pick up all the fruit flavours. I didn't dislike it but couldn't drink a lot in one sitting (Posted on 09/01/2017)

  • Great bottle and label but average beer

    Review by Siwalker85

I really wanted to love this but it was distinctly average. Not a great deal of depth going on. (Posted on 07/01/2017)

  • Big hopper

    Review by AdyG

A big, bruising, American IPA that is done just right. Lots of hops and plenty of flavour and punch (Posted on 16/12/2016)

  • What an excellent IPA - Get this one!

    Review by simontomlinson

Creamy, just white head stayed well on a hazy dark orange coloured body.
Very sweet aroma of peach, melon & haribos.
Nice thick body feel, smooth to the fore & a tang on the back.
Slightly malty on the tip & this very quickly turns across the tongue to a fruity blast of sweet citrus, orange, nectarine, melon, grapefruit & quite hoppy. (Posted on 06/12/2016)

  • Lovely hoppy Italian craft beer with American influence
