Birra del Borgo Ke To Reporter

Birra del Borgo KeTo Reporter

Style Porter
Country Italian Beers
ABV 6.5%
Serving Temp 12 to 14°C
Bottle Size 330ml
With the addition of Kentucky tobacco leaves, Birra del Borgo has really pushed the limits of a porter with their KeTo Re Porter. The tobacco brings about an interesting spicy, smokiness on the nose which is complemented nicely by notes of milk chocolate and coffee. A similar flavour on the palate is accompanied by an almost lactose-like sourness and a hint of whisky. The creamy mouthfeel is finished off by a semi-sweet full-bodied character. This beer is rather complex and interesting without going overboard. It may be hard to drink too many in one session but, rest assured, you'll be happy with at least one!

Product Reviews

  • Disspointment

    Review by richard

Another underwhelming effort from the Del Borgo bunch. Perhaps it is just me but I am always left underwhelmed by these beers and Italy must produce better than this. (Posted on 02/01/2018)

  • A grower...

    Review by Steve

Wasn’t sure at first, but the subtle smokiness and flavour creeps up on you and leaves you happy! (Posted on 31/12/2017)

  • Porter

    Review by Michael

Very good, but a slightly strange aftertaste stops a 5* (Posted on 10/12/2017)

  • Wholeheartedly recommend!

    Review by Paul

I had this beer last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had read that it had a "tobacco" taste to it, and as a non-smoker was a little concerned, but it was extremely subtle and didn't at all taste like drinking a beer with fag butts in it! It poured dark, with a nice off-white foamy head; coffee and slight smokey taste. Was very easy to drink and I could quite easily have followed it with another. Give it a go if you like Porters and Stouts. I doubt you'll be disappointed. (Posted on 04/12/2017)

  • Fantastic Porter

    Review by Amos

Could hardly fault this porter, super smooth and chocolatey, perfectly balanced on a slice of burnt toast (Posted on 20/11/2017)

  • Roasty Toasty

    Review by Mike

Strong roast malt flavour, but body's a bit on the thin side for such an otherwise complex beer. (Posted on 11/07/2017)

  • Where's the baccy?

    Review by Marit

Smells and tastes like a regular porter. Subtle flavours: vanilla, chocolate, liquorice, but really didn’t get the tobacco even though I knew it has been added. In general, a decent easy drinking porter. (Posted on 28/06/2017)

  • Nice Porter

    Review by Tim

Pours with very little head that is just off white. The aroma is lightly smoky and coffee. The flavour is good with hints of whisky and continued smokiness. A nice porter overall but nothing remarkable. (Posted on 24/05/2017)

  • Dark brooding and lovely!

    Review by Alex

Full of coffee chocolaty goodness that lingers on the palate that makes you eager for more (Posted on 12/05/2017)

  • Only Average

    Review by baz_the_barn

This is an ok porter, nothing really of note and no particular stand out flavour (there bottle is quite funky though), pleasant enough but looking for a little bit more (Posted on 04/05/2017)

    Review by PeteC

Something form the continent. Million miles better than Guinness. While not the best, its smokey, kinda tobacco esq. sweet sweet beer. (Posted on 03/05/2017)

  • I'm a fan..

    Review by Math

Black, roasty tobacco. Coffee, smoke and chocolate. Its thin compared to some similar, but i'd drink again. (Posted on 01/05/2017)

  • Smokey and sweet

    Review by Tworopes

An ok porter/stout an acceptable level of smokiness and sweetness, definitely better out there but worth a try all the same. (Posted on 25/04/2017)

  • Very Tasty

    Review by Math

I'm a fan of these guys and I'm a fan of this beer. Really well rounded. I's say it was more a stout than a porter, but who cares when the beer tastes so good. (Posted on 15/04/2017)

  • Loved this!

    Review by ArchietheAndroid

Unlike the other reviewers, I loved this porter. My taste in beer is dark and/or strong, and this tickled my tastebuds immediately. I could enjoy several! (Posted on 28/03/2017)

  • Quirky

    Review by Paul

I loved the bottle, but the taste wasn't up to the same standards... (Posted on 01/03/2017)

  • Moorish

    Review by MC

Poors dark , unusual for an Italian beer , rich and sweet but not over sweet.
quite moorish but don't drink too much. (Posted on 28/02/2017)

Interesting beer. Smokey coffee flavours. Not bad but had better (Posted on 26/02/2017)

  • Dark and delicious

    Review by BJ53

Very black in colour. This is a full - bodied, sweetish, smooth, roasty stout. It is full bodied and extremely drinkable - unusual, but a lovely beer. (Posted on 24/02/2017)

  • unusual

    Review by steve

definitely an unusual taste, but not a bad beer by any stretch. try it on (Posted on 10/02/2017)

  • Unique & Inspired

    Review by Chris

A very different beer which is quite heavy on the tobacco whilst being smokey and with undertones of chocolate and roasted malts.
It grew on me the more I drank and I'd certainly have it again.
One to be tried just for the adventure. (Posted on 07/02/2017)

  • Good porter

    Review by Woody

Not the biggest fan of porters but this is great, coffee with a smoky finish. Would buy again. (Posted on 04/02/2017)

  • Smokey

    Review by Siwalker85

A little harsh up front with plenty of smokiness. It certainly isn't dull but not 100% my thing (Posted on 07/01/2017)

  • Very interesting flavour

    Review by Fractool

Very rich taste with an almost coffee like aftertaste, a little watery for my liking but I would definitely buy this again. (Posted on 05/01/2017)

  • Complex, drinkable porter

    Review by JohnP

Really interesting, surprisingly light given how complex it is. Slightly smokey, smooth, and a tiny bit sour. One to have again, but only one per session. (Posted on 01/01/2017)

  • Top of the porter

    Review by RallyRay

Smoky, dark, rich, tobacco! If you like a porter you'll love this! 10 times better than the new Guinness range! Impressed! (Posted on 31/12/2016)

  • Smokin!!

    Review by Fyfie

Surprisingly sweet almost like a amber ale slightly smokey also. (Posted on 20/12/2016)

  • My new favourite :)

    Review by Edward

Absolutely delicious, this a complex beer that see-saws between sweet and sour on the tongue with a perfectly-balanced haze of smoke coming through. I could drink this by the magnum! (Posted on 20/12/2016)

  • Italia

    Review by Middy

You will often be told, Italy do wines not beer. Well this brewery will prove them wrong! I first came across them by luck whilst on tour in parma. So I always look for their beers, which beer hawk supply. Ke To Re Porter is probably my favourite, it's an amazing beer I wish came in a bigger bottle. If you like dark beers, what you got to lose? (Posted on 27/11/2016)

  • Smokin.!

    Review by Leedj1

Well flavoured porter, smoky and woody aftertaste, very interesting and would definitely order again, couldn't have too many in one sitting though. (Posted on 18/11/2016)

  • Good beer

    Review by Ben

This was an enjoyable beer although nothing amazing yet still very good. A bit of a strong taste which is good if that is your thing. The sourness is good, it gives it a good bite. I would recommend this beer. (Posted on 02/10/2016)

  • Stop the Press!

    Review by Llamaman

    An interesting porter.
Definitely on the sweeter side, with the main note being chocolate, but with subtle coffee and tobacco smoke. The latter is a genius addition that takes this to another level.
The best Birra del Borgo beer of the 4 currently stocked by BH. (Posted on 26/07/2016)

  • Decent Porter

  • Superb chocolate

    Review by Len from Leyton

Overwhelming taste of real chocolate.Perfect to sip and savour. Maybe just one at a session as it could be slightly sickly to taste .After saying that I thoroughly enjoyed it and would consider it a firm favourite in my porter repertoire.Excellent even in small doses. (Posted on 18/07/2016)
