Roasted malts, milk sugars, coffee beans and Perle hops combine to make Black Perle, Weird Beard's 3.8% ABV coffee milk stout. With notes of freshly ground coffee, dark chocolate and a sweet lactose tang, this rich stout finishes with a balancing bitterness which gives it a rounded, smooth character.

Brewery Info

Some of the country's best breweries have emerged out of the homebrew scene, and Weird Beard are probably the best example. Gregg Irwin and Bryan Spooner (big beards), made the hugely successful transition to a commercial brewery after winning award after award for their home brewed beers. They launched Weird Beard in 2012, and have since made hundreds of marvellous beers… none boring. As they write: “We love upfront, in-your-face, hop-focused beers, along with classic styles. Proudly experimental and happily non-conformist.” Cheers to that

Alongside the core beers – Little Things That Kill, Mariana Trench, Five O’Clock Shadow, Black Perle – we’ll always be picking up those specials that catch our eye. Pig Smasher anyone?

Very heady stout - no matter how slow I pour it, it has a head bigger than my own!
Nice after taste - coffee flavours coming through. I have had nicer milk stouts but it is fine.
