“Santa gave up delivering presents and took a holiday to the Bahamas” reads one of To Øl’s fabulous range of festive beers – they’ve really gone to town.
As well as the best Christmas pun of 2016, it’s also one of the season’s most inventive beers. It’s not particularly Christmassy… unless it is Christmas in the Bahamas. We’ve got passionfruit, guava and mango all added, but to a gose, which is a salty German beer. The tropical fruits come through clearly on the nose. On swigging it is sharply tart, saline, and refreshing – it certainly wakes you up. This is a beer that would cleanse the palate midway through the richest meal of the year. Alternatively, save it until July and enjoy it on the beach.
After several years of brewing beer in their kitchen and selling it to their friends, Tore Gynther and Tobias Emil Jensen founded To Øl in 2010. Their first beer was a collaboration with Mikkeller and, with such an auspicious start, they were always going to do well.
