The base beer for To Øl’s Dangerously Close to Stupid series and it’s a marvellous beer in its own right. At 9.3%, it’s certainly deserving of its name, a session beer this ain’t! Heavily hopped with Citra and Centennial, this Imperial IPA packs a punch! It pours a beautiful, golden amber with lovely frothy white head. The aroma is citrus and pine needles with some grapefruit coming through. To taste, it’s initially sweet with orange and caramel segueing into a tropical fruit, grapefruit, resin and pine hop explosion. It finishes lightly bitter, whispering encouragement to take another delicious sip. Hops, hops, hops and more hops, if that’s your forte, then this is your beer!
After several years of brewing beer in their kitchen and selling it to their friends, Tore Gynther and Tobias Emil Jensen founded To Øl in 2010. Their first beer was a collaboration with Mikkeller and, with such an auspicious start, they were always going to do well.
Coupled with their relentless pursuit of big flavours and perfectly balanced beers, they have garnered a well-deserved reputation for innovation and technical skill. Using ingredients not always associated with beer and, with a particular penchant for using fruit wherever they can, you’re always guaranteed a unique, flavourful and boundary-pushing drinking experience.
