A much-awaited transatlantic union of the Jai, Jaipur and Jai Alai meld to form the delightful Jai Jai. Thornbridge have teamed up with Cigar City Brewing of Tampa, Florida and this is what you get when a US titan teams up with a UK titan, an easy drinking hop monster with 7 different hops loading citrus, pine, resin and tropical fruits onto your palate. The base is lightly sweet and pleasingly malty and it’s rounded off by a beautifully subtle bitterness. The Jais unite, named twice so you know it’s good!

Brewery Info

A forerunner of the British craft beer movement, Thornbridge Brewery was started in the grounds of the eponymous Thornbridge Hall in the heart of the Peak District. Aiming to make a range of cask beers with a modern twist, they’ve won over 350 national and international awards - pretty good going for what started out as a tiny 10-barrell brewery.

A couple of interesting facts for you - the co-founder of Brewdog actually started out at Thornbridge back in the day, helping to create Thornbridge’s flagship IPA Jaipur, and in 2014 Thornbridge won “Best Drinks Producer” in the BBC Good Food Awards….beating Brewdog to the top spot. Although they’re seen as a more traditional brewer, Thornbridge also has a good mix of ‘new’ creations making them a firm favourite with us.

Thornbridge Jaipur and CIgar City Jai Alai are both brilliant IPAs in their own right.

You could pick out tastes of both, but the lasting feeling was that they had just mixed the two beers together in a vat. Unfortunately for me they just didn't gel together.

I would definitely buy both individually, but will pass on this hybrid

I've had Cigar City Jai Alai and Thornbridge Jaipur, both great beers in there own rights.

This tastes like they have just mixed the 2 beers together, and they just don't gel, you get hints of Jaipur flavour, but the smoothness just isn't there.

If it was me I'd just buy the Jai Alai (now on Beerhawk) and Jaipur (get it anywhere) and drink them seperately
