Thornbridge describe themselves as a "collaboration of innovation, passion and knowledge" and they are spot on. Their beers are not pasteurised or filtered and are the epitomy of raw craft beer at its finest. Jaipur is their most well known but the rest of the range really stands up to the test too. Beer Hawk loves their beer! A Black IPA that messes with your senses; looks like a dark winter beer but tastes like a fresh summer one! Pours dark with a beige head and intense pine and sweet malt aromas. The flavour is quite complex having bitter chocolate notes but strong fruity overtones. Finish (as ever with Thornbridge) is satisfying, long and bitter.

Brewery Info

A forerunner of the British craft beer movement, Thornbridge Brewery was started in the grounds of the eponymous Thornbridge Hall in the heart of the Peak District. Aiming to make a range of cask beers with a modern twist, they’ve won over 350 national and international awards - pretty good going for what started out as a tiny 10-barrell brewery.

A couple of interesting facts for you - the co-founder of Brewdog actually started out at Thornbridge back in the day, helping to create Thornbridge’s flagship IPA Jaipur, and in 2014 Thornbridge won “Best Drinks Producer” in the BBC Good Food Awards….beating Brewdog to the top spot. Although they’re seen as a more traditional brewer, Thornbridge also has a good mix of ‘new’ creations making them a firm favourite with us.

A lot of flavours but i found it started out too sweet and finished too bitter. The pine note is there and i don't think it adds anything that fits well with the rest of the experience.

Not a big fan of Thornbridge beer in General, but this was a fab beer.

Incredibly refreshing for such a dark brew. Definitely on the bitter end of the taste spectrum though. Seems to vary somewhat batch to batch.
Could have been a 4

A beer I genuinely can't decide on. Enjoyed but still not sure how much. Undoubtedly worth a go.
