Thornbridge Jaipur

Thornbridge Jaipur

£2.49
Details
Thornbridge describe themselves as a "collaboration of innovation, passion and knowledge" and they are spot on. Their beers are not pasteurised or filtered and are the epitomy of raw craft beer at its finest. Jaipur is their most well known but the rest of the range really stands up to the test too. Beer Hawk loves their beer!
Style IPA
Country British Beers
ABV 5.90%
Serving Temp 6-8 °C
Bottle Size 330ml
Jaipur--the Thornbridge star! This beer has won so many awards it can't stand up straight! A really wonderful hoppiness leaves you wanting more and that, combined with a none too subtle 5.9% ABV, has led to the phrase "I'm just a bit jaipured" becoming a real phrase in some parts! Tropical fruits and grassy tastes abound if you don't drink at fridge temperature. Thornbridge Jaipur won a Gold Medal at the World Beer Awards 2016 in the category United Kingdom - IPA.

  • Good IPA, prefer it on tap

    Review by Jo

Straw/golden colour, citrus, apricot, floral aroma, medium crisp, slightly dry mouthfeel, malty, caramel, melon, slightly sweet flavour, bitter, slightly dry aftertaste. (Posted on 12/07/2017)

  • A flagship beer

    Review by Snapey

This is one of them beers that you can have and enjoy, then months can pass and you have another and the just makes you realise how good it is. For those who haven't tried it yet you need to, the taste is bitter with malts and tropical fruits. Good, sharp notes of grapefruit and citrus. (Posted on 29/06/2017)

  • Top class

Lovely IPA from thornbridge. So much flavour to this award winner. A staple in my beer fridge. Available in quite a few places now so getting onto the same level as punk for me!!! (Posted on 28/06/2017)

  • Jaipured

    Review by Philip

Thornbridge produce some cracking beers and this is one of their best! A wonderful IPA with a true IPA strength. A moreish hoppy flavour thats makes it very easy to become 'Jaipured'. (Posted on 25/06/2017)

  • Where light IPA's caught on can leave a little lacking 10 years on

    Review by Moxley

This is a great beer. No ways around it. Along with PUNK IPA this sparked the real move in the UK beer industry that we are currently so thankful for. However even though it gave us all this it now leaves a little bit to be desired compared to other more fruity and flavorful IPA's. Still a good go too however. (Posted on 24/06/2017)

  • Great for a Summer session

    Review by RJHowlett

Really tasty, easy drinking, fresh IPA. Not too overwhelming in terms of punch, but good for a session. (Posted on 22/06/2017)

  • M'eh

    Review by Supping Sam

I can only speak from personal opinion but this IPA just doesn't do it for me. It's not offensive but I find it rather bland (Posted on 21/06/2017)

  • Overrated

    Review by Fiasco

This beer gets rave reviews but I thought it was underwhelming to be honest. Far better IPA's out there! (Posted on 14/06/2017)

What a great classic and can'y go wrong with this IPA (Posted on 17/05/2017)

  • Still one of the best.

    Review by Voyage34

A true IPA. Surely no one visiting this site will not have tasted this sensational beer. Deserved of the hoard of awards. The only downside is that this beer is dangerously slurpable. (Posted on 26/04/2017)

  • Brilliant and different tasting beer

    Review by Jim

Not in line with your general beers, is a little different and very refreshing (Posted on 26/04/2017)

Very light coloured, with lovely light fruity hints and nicely hoppy. Very refreshing and moreish. (Posted on 24/04/2017)

  • Classic

    Review by Beebo

Colour is blonde with a small creamy white head. Aroma and taste are malt, hops, citrus. Palate is medium bodied, long finish. (Posted on 16/04/2017)

  • Lovely Pale

    Review by baz_the_barn

I can see why so many rate this beer highly, great example of a pale ale not over fruity but just enough to leave you wanting a little more, will certainly be adding to future orders (Posted on 14/04/2017)

  • Great beer!

    Review by Dead Derek

Fantastically distinct taste, compared to other IPAs on the market. Not as strong as some others, which is good! I'm looking forward to moving onto trying the same brewer's other beers. (Posted on 26/03/2017)

  • Classic

    Review by Snozz

Lovely aroma of citrus and lychee fruits, clear straw appearance. Tastes light malt and grapefruit in the mouth leading to a balanced biscuity malt and citrus notes with a big citra-hop finish finish. (Posted on 08/03/2017)

Got this for my dad for fathers day.

He said this is very hoppy and citrusy on the nose with a strong grapefruit aftertaste. Probably his favourite. (Posted on 08/10/2016)

Hoppy english ipa, really refreshing with floral notes. This brewery know what they are doing! (Posted on 02/08/2016)

  • Just excellent

    Review by JDW38

Consistently in my personal top 5 favourites and something I always try to have a few of at home! Heavy citrus nose from the hops and slight twang of bitterness on the palate to keep things interesting. Quite strong yet very easy drinking. Wonderful example of a classic IPA. (Posted on 31/07/2016)

  • Consistently excellent

    Review by Llamaman

One of the best IPAs that doesn't come with an absurd ABV. One of my 'go to' beers. (Posted on 21/07/2016)

  • Fab well balanced IPA

    Review by Groomy

This is a real gem from Thornbridge and clearly gaining in popularity as now seeing it in London and in particular at Chutney Mary's in St Jemes's Street. A nicely strong ale with a slightly grapefruit (Posted on 24/05/2016)

  • Beautiful IPA

    Review by S Stanbridge

Outstanding IPA from Thornbridge. Very hoppy but not enough to overpower the outstanding fruit flavours and lingering honey taste. Great stuff and £2.49 is great value for a 500ml bottle as well. (Posted on 14/05/2016)

  • A good pick

    Review by Faris

A great beer to keep in stock at your house. One of my favorite IPAs that I return to again and again. Would recommend this to all that like a strong finishing IPA. (Posted on 11/05/2016)

Amazing beer from a first class brewery a must try.... (Posted on 12/03/2016)

  • An excellent IPA by any standards

    Review by Iana

Misleadingly pale-coloured beer hides a real depth of flavour. An excellent IPA by any standards! (Posted on 08/01/2016)

  • Just love this beer

    Review by Joji

Tried Jaipur for the first time a few years ago at Taste London and just loved it. It\'s amazingly hoppy and one of the best, if not the best, IPA going. Jaipur initially got me into craft beer and, even though my taste has developed further over the years, whenever I see Jaipur I have to buy it and it never disappoints. If you love IPAs you should buy Jaipur. (Posted on 26/12/2015)

  • Simply stunning

    Review by Beer Hawk Adam

Awesome ipa totally recommend. (Posted on 16/11/2015)

  • Good flavour

    Review by Mean Green

I\'d give this 3.5 stars total- 4.5 for taste though. I didn\'t like the smell in fact I was slightly put off. That\'s the first time I liked the taste but not the aroma. This is a commonly highly rated beer and it is deserving on flavour and mouthfeel. Not my favourite though. (Posted on 03/10/2015)

  • Very nice indeed

    Review by Andrew

As strong as IPAs were originally meant to be. Not to bitter. Lots of flavour (Posted on 08/06/2015)

  • One of the best

    Review by leonidasthewookiee

I have been sampling pale ales for some time and always come back to Jaipur, one of the very best I have tried and always a delight. (Posted on 16/05/2015)

  • Jaipurs creepers ... it's a cracker!

    Review by interzen

Thornbridge have done it again with yet another hoptastic IPA. Don't let the somewhat insipid, pale yellow colouration fool you, though - this one walks the walk and talks the talk.

Smell is deliciously hoppy, and the taste is more of the same with a long, bitter aftertaste - despite being an IPA rather than a pale ale, this reminded me a stronger version of their (equally good) Wild Swan.

If you like IPAs of any description then you owe it to yourself to try this - the Bakewell brewers have done it again. (Posted on 08/05/2015)

  • refreshing

    Review by wreck

Very pale straw coloured beer with a short lived white head. Strong citrus aromas and flavours, very hoppy with a long bitter finish. Heavy carbonation, and very thin in the mouth. Easy drinking, but a touch watery I feel... especially for a beer of this strength. (Posted on 21/04/2015)

  • Fantastic Ale

    Review by Wardywolf

I have had this beer many times and never get tired of it. It is available on draft in some places and judging on the taste out of the bottle out of the tap must be something else. (Posted on 15/04/2015)

  • Another great bear from a great brewery

    Review by Jackanakanory

Another winner here, I love this beer but Kipling has run it close. Will be a repeat order though. (Posted on 13/04/2015)

  • Fruity!!!!

    Review by stivvy

Pleasant to drink, nice and fruity, a really good summer drink to have at a bbq (Posted on 13/04/2015)

  • Top English style IPA

    Review by Slapbang

Great golden colour. Aroma of fruits and a subtle grass/herbiness, with the same flavour. Dry aftertaste with light bitterness. Great thirst quencher. Refreshing and tasty. Good stuff. (Posted on 10/04/2015)

  • Deceptive

    Review by BigBadBeer

Very drinkable. Deceptively simple at the start, but the flavour builds and builds. Lovely IPA (Posted on 31/03/2015)

  • Hoppy and bitter

    Review by Markiemark

A nice hoppy IPA but I do prefer something a little less bitter. Worth a try (Posted on 28/03/2015)

  • Do they EVER make a bad beer?

    Review by Ay Pee Horne

    Thornbridge have done it again!
I've tasted pretty much everything they brew and this is in the top 3 (check out their Russian Stout and Kipling). Mad hops, with a nice zing to keep you on your toes. A great example of the style. (Posted on 25/11/2014)

Love Thornbridge brews and this doesn't fail great flavours, great aromas. (Posted on 16/09/2014)

  • Awesome!!!

    Review by Loinofthecloth

The best beer I have EVER drank. Have yet to find one to compare to this. Maybe St Austell Proper job comes close. First had it in the lake district on draught a few years ago and hadn't seen it since until i found it on here. Nice and fruity and hoppy and deceivingly strong (from experience!!) You MUST try this, you will not regret it! Hats off to Thornbridge! (Posted on 09/02/2014)
