Thornbridge describe themselves as a "collaboration of innovation, passion and knowledge" and they are spot on. Their beers are not pasteurised or filtered and are the epitomy of raw craft beer at its finest. Jaipur is their most well known but the rest of the range really stands up to the test too. Beer Hawk loves their beer!
Style Pale Ale
Country British Beers
ABV 5.0%
Serving Temp 6-8 °C
Bottle Size 330ml
Named after the wisest and most civilised of the centaurs in Ancient Greek mythology, Chiron is a well-balanced pale ale. Pouring golden and bright with a floral aroma, flavours of juicy apricot and tangy orange are layered over biscuity malts. With a light bitterness and crisp, dry finish, it's no surprise that this zesty pale ale has become a firm part of Thornbridge's core range.

  • Middling APA

    Review by Antony

Possibly my least favourite Thornbridge; decent enough APA, but not especially memorable for me, certainly not compared to Jaipur. Both can be bought in my local Morrisons; I get tons of Jaipur and much less of this. But it’s still preferable to 90% of the beer they offer in the supermarket. (Posted on 22/02/2018)

    Review by Christopher

Not bad as a session beer, but nothing special (Posted on 11/01/2018)

  • Really nice

    Review by Ian

A small bottle but a great beer - which is what I'd expect from a classic brewery. Would buy again. (Posted on 26/07/2017)

  • Decent brew

    Review by Fiasco

Decent beer, much than the Jupior. Probably not a beer I'd buy again as there are better Pale Ales out there. (Posted on 14/06/2017)

  • Decent enough

    Review by Hagge

A decent enough beer without any real strong flavours. Glad to have tried it, but don't think I will order it again. (Posted on 05/05/2017)

  • Nice!

    Review by Beebo

Beautiful looking APA, california sunset colour and a foamy head that looks like the Stay Puffed Marshmellow man. Marmalade hop zest nose (Posted on 15/04/2017)

  • Great brewery, great beer

    Review by Snozz

Pale orange with a medium white soapy head. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Nice bitter and fruity sweet tones. Caramel, citrus, peach and hops. Nice.

Easy drinking pale refreshing but not remarkable. (Posted on 20/12/2016)

  • One of their best

    Review by geofff

Fine brewery, this mellow american style has more in common with a classic oldskool brew, very tasty (Posted on 22/11/2016)

  • My favourite beer out there.

    Review by GW89

Lovely fresh American Pale, tastes great and easy to drink (Posted on 09/09/2016)

Light and citrus flavours and very drinkable, but thornbridge have got much better beers available (Posted on 11/05/2016)

  • Crisp

    Review by Llamaman

A lovely crisp pale ale in the citrusy American style (but without the high ABV). (Posted on 07/01/2016)

  • Refreshing

    Review by Ian_atc

Light and citrussy, great thirst quencher. Another winner from Thornbridge! (Posted on 17/11/2015)

  • Lovely

    Review by DMW

Thornbridge can do no wrong! The type of drink you can drink as a session beer or a one off as a treat. (Posted on 25/10/2015)

  • Thornbridge and Greek classics!

    Review by Jack Swans

Chiron , Halcyon, what next from those Greek geeks at Thornbridge. Watch out for Hercules stout next. However this beer owes more to the New World than the Classical. American hops impart their classical citrus hops hit. Thirst quenching goodness with a dry finish.
Should be drank at around 6-8C, a bit cooler than normal. (Posted on 21/02/2015)

  • Refreshing Taste

    Review by Andy

Very tasty, and easy to drink IPA. Like the 500ml size bottle as well as you get plenty. (Posted on 04/02/2015)

  • Really good. Citrus flavours and dry aftertaste.

    Review by Robin

This is an American pale ale, but made here in UK, and it has a very American style hops taste to it (like Chinook or similar). It has a complex flavour that is citrussy and dry, making it easy to gulp down. Mine was a bit warm, and I'd recommend chilling this one for a while. (Posted on 19/06/2013)
