Style Strong Dark Ale
Country American Beers
ABV 7.2%
Serving Temp 7 to 10°C
Bottle Size 500ml
This is an aggressive beer. You probably won’t like it. It's quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. Arrogant Bastard Ale has revelled in its unprecedented and uncompromising celebration of intensity since 1997 and will never pander to the lowest common denominator. There have been many nods to Arrogant Bastard Ale…even outright attempts to copy it…but only one can ever embody the true nature of Liquid Arrogance.

  • Very nice

    Review by Matt

I had heard alot about this beer prior to trying it and i am not sure it loved up to the hype fully but i would certainly recommend buying it. Very nice strong beer, that goes down very well (Posted on 17/08/2017)

  • Definitely Arrogant

    Review by Jo

Reddy-brown colour, malty, dried fruit, caramel and whiskey aroma, thin to medium oily, crisp mouthfeel, malty, caramel, citrus, pine and nutty flavour, bitter malty and pine aftertaste. (Posted on 27/07/2017)

  • Does exactly what the blurb on the back says!

    Review by Beer Baron

As the rear of the can says - this is a max flavour beer. Big on everything. If you don't like it - "go away". I liked it a lot and will be ordering more. (Posted on 23/07/2017)

  • A sturdy beer

    Review by Gerry

Initially, when still chilled (about 1/2 an hour out of the fridge) the aroma from this was red fruit/ cherry. As it warmed up, the rich malt profile came through. It was slightly sweet and citrusy on the initial taste, this gave way to a quick passing malt flavour, then a cracking bitter aftertaste. There was a hint of the alcohol strength, but certainly no burn. I would get this again. (Posted on 18/07/2017)

  • Not for me

    Review by MrDeek

This beer didn't do it for me. I found it a bit too chewy. It certainly is an aggressive beer. Perhaps I should have listened to the description! (Posted on 22/06/2017)

  • Strong

    Review by John

I like it, a sharp and surprisingly strong for this type of beer. (Posted on 22/05/2017)

  • worth a try

    Review by rik

but t for the light hearted (Posted on 17/05/2017)

  • Just look at the can, to know what you'll get...

    Review by Scrufftyguy

Strong ale with lots of lingering hoppy bitterness. Not my favourite Stone beer, but would definitely still drink again. (Posted on 15/05/2017)

  • OTT

    Review by LoneR

The alcohol took over this beer too much for my taste, however I can see the attraction. (Posted on 05/05/2017)

  • It is what it says it is

    Review by Snapey

Poured a deep reddy brown, head lasted til the end, it says hoppy but it's not hoppy like a strong IPA is, it has much more flavour from it's malt and barley, smell is a little off putting and like it says on the can 'you probably won't like it', it was ok but the alcohol did overpower in the mouth.

At least i can say i've tried it. (Posted on 05/05/2017)

  • Long Last

    Review by Chomp

Big in flavour with a long finish. Take it easy chicken the abv is high! (Posted on 04/05/2017)

  • A kick arse beer

    Review by Ninja Terrier

This is full on from the very first sip to the last sip. But you probably wont like it, so it says on the tin. (Posted on 18/04/2017)

  • Strong pale

    Review by Harry

A strong, full bodied pale ale. Very rich and deep. Recommended for those who are looking for a strong pale ale. (Posted on 11/04/2017)

    Review by Jeffery Jeff

    Great Drink! (Posted on 28/03/2017)

  • If it's arrogant, it's because it's worth it

    Review by Dead Derek

Superb, superb beer. Not necessarily my favourite style usually - a little on the dark side for me - but a smooth, rich, full-bodied, flavoursome, deep, satisfying drink. Not mentally hoppy like, say, the Sierra Nevada "Hop Hunter", or super juicy like, say, Rooster's "Baby Faced Assasin" - but it would seem hard to top what it is. (Posted on 27/03/2017)

  • Very enjoyable

    Review by Kram

Usually I tend to go for golden ales or IPAs but I decided to try something adventurous for a change. I can say I am glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and look forward to ordering again! (Posted on 27/02/2017)

  • Believe in the Devil.

    Review by Biz

Amazing beer. Introduced to me by a friend in the U.S. This beer is full of flavour and is not for the faint of heart. Get some. (Posted on 14/02/2017)

  • but I am worthy!!!

    Review by CHI-TOWN Drinker

First tried this in New York years ago on draught and I have not gone a month without drinking this sensational Ale. I just love it and the new can recipe is so bloody awesome. its very close to the draught and I would never buy the bottled version again. They sell these cans in most pubs in the states too. (Posted on 09/02/2017)

  • Not the biggest fan

    Review by MaHix

As the can states, I won't like this beer and I didn't. I failed to get any flavour other than hops. The colour is surprising for the taste as it tastes like a generic APA. Like someone brewed a distinctively mediocre Ale and assaulted it with hops to make it interesting. This is my opinion though and I appreciate than many many others do like it. It's (Posted on 04/02/2017)

  • Wow!

    Review by Good Head

A dark brown ale with a large foamy head and clear in appearance. A really great flavour and aroma. (Posted on 22/01/2017)

  • Arrogant and Hoppy

    Review by drdavy

Malty, Sweet, with a ton of hops. This was the first craft beer i ever had and it started my hobby. I love it and this one from German is just as good. (Posted on 12/01/2017)

  • Fantastic

    Review by Rob Villan

A lovely pint hits the spot. Great taste very hoppy. (Posted on 07/01/2017)

  • winter beer

    Review by ultan

Perfect beer for sipping in winter. I'm not a stout drinker so this is perfect for me. Not too heavy because of the hoppiness but also nice and warming on a winter's night. (Posted on 14/12/2016)

  • Justifiably arrogant

    Review by birky

One of those beers that finds the balance between the malt taste and hop taste and somehow works. Strong. (Posted on 12/12/2016)

  • Deservedly smug

    Review by Llamaman

Excellent. Both deeply malty and hoppy (pine), this packs one heck of a punch.
I guess 'Justifiably Confident Fellow' didn't make it past the marketing department. (Posted on 11/12/2016)
