Everything Stillwater do reeks of late 80s and early 90s excess. They’re not afraid to push the boat out either when it comes to styling and experimental beers; Shoegaze is testament to that. It’s, in Stillwater’s own words, a NEIPA meets Farmhouse Saison. It doesn’t sound like it should work, but it does! Sporting the levels of carbonation you’d expect from a Saison along with the clove-like, yeasty phenols, it’s melded beautifully with additions from the NEIPA corner in form of pine and citrus hoppiness. It all blends spectacularly with the slightly sour, but refreshing Saison base. A spectacular take on a Belgian classic, given a contemporary makeover and thrust out the door into the arms of an adoring public. Think hoppy saison and you’re there. We can’t recommend it enough!
