Roosters Yankee

Style Pale Ale
Country British Beers
ABV 4.30%
Serving Temp 6 to 8 °C
Bottle Size 330ml

North Yorkshire-based Rooster’s Brewing Co. has been brewing exceptionally clean-tasting and hop forward pale ales for over 20 years and is one of our Sommelier’s favourite UK breweries. The easy-drinking Yankee™ is a classic pale ale that showcases the American Cascade hop.

Hoppy aromas of lemon, pine and florals are prominent on the nose. Similar flavour notes are accompanied by more fruit notes like pineapple and pears as well as biscuity malts and caramel sweetness. A viscous texture and medium body are finished off with a dry and subtly bitter finish. Excellent.

Product Reviews
  1. As Yorkshire as Tea
    Review by Ninja Terrier

Yorkshire seems to be becoming known for more than tea. This is a very light coloured brew even for a pale ale but pack a punch above its weight in lots of ways. (Posted on 07/05/2017)

  2. Great American Style IPA
    Review by baz_the_barn

loved this, lovely citrus notes from American hops, and @ just 4.3% a great session option - top marks (Posted on 09/04/2017)

  3. Middling greatness
    Review by Dead Derek

As others have commented - not as good as their "Baby-Faced Assasin", and possibly disappointing for that reason. But: it's still Roosters, so it's still great. The packaging alone is worth your money. (Posted on 13/03/2017)

  4. Not bad...
    Review by Klaud

... but not a patch on their Baby Face Assassin. (Posted on 24/01/2017)

  5. Good, but not as good as others
    Review by James

A good ale, but prefer Roosters Baby Faced Assassin, which is a bit stronger (Posted on 23/01/2017)

  6. Solid offering
    Review by Wethers

The weakest of the Rooster offerings and probably my favourite. had it on tap in Leeds and it was even more delicious (Posted on 09/01/2017)

  7. Aroma more interesting than the flavour
    Review by Jo

Clear golden colour, some carbonation, very thin white head with little retention, spicy and hoppy grapefruit, lemon, rose and slightly malty aroma, quite thin crisp mouthfeel with little carbonation, hoppy, bitter lemon flavour, slightly bitter aftertaste, preferred it on cask. (Posted on 29/11/2016)

  8. Nice
    Review by Ed

This is a nice solid american style IPA - not anything to really write home about but nice classic flavour (Posted on 01/09/2016)

  9. Very nice
    Review by Ed

This is a classic American style pale ale - fruity and tasty! Can't really go wrong with this one. (Posted on 30/08/2016)

  10. (Doodle) dandy
    Review by Llamaman

A nice crisp pale ale with a pleasant bitter finish. Moderate ABV makes this an excellent choice for a warm sunny afternoon... (Posted on 16/07/2016)

  11. Excellent
    Review by wethers

This Yorkshire brewery keeps providing winners (Posted on 06/06/2016)

  12. Nearly forgot to drink it - it smells so amazing!
Review by Beer In The Bay

Wow, what an aroma! Floral, hoppy, zesty - such a wonderful way to start any beer. This was my first experience (since they came back into fashion) of enjoying a craft beer from a can, will buy more of these for certain. (Posted on 27/04/2016)

  13. Perfect for summer
    Review by JohnH

Pours very fizzy with a loose foamy head that quickly disappears. Light and refreshing, like a toned down but still flavourful IPA. Citrus and some floral notes but not too strong. Could easily drink several cans in one go.

Will need to get some more when the weather turns sunny (Posted on 18/03/2016)

  14. Excellent north of England brew!
    Review by David_86

Great to see North East beer at this standard! A good pale ale and shows cans can be as good as bottles (Posted on 05/12/2015)

  15. Yorkshire via Chicago
    Review by Gramercy Riff

Does exactly what it says on the American style extremely refreshing pale ale (more of an IPA really). Great stuff from North Yorks!! (Posted on 19/11/2015)

  16. A bit boring
    Review by Andrew

an acceptable pale ale. nothing more. not a great deal of flavour (Posted on 11/08/2015)

  17. Crowing...
    Review by Ady Gray

Cascade hops? Can't go wrong there then...and Roosters haven't. Light, fresh, fruit overtones. Lovely stuff (Posted on 21/07/2015)

  18. Buy a few...
    Review by Broonzy

Like other reviewers, I can't beleive this is a canned ale. Smells incredible, light, tasty and moreish. I'm genuinely gutted I only had one of these in my fathers day case. (Posted on 24/06/2015)

  19. Great New Brewery
    Review by Ay Pee Horne

I've supped all of Yankee's newly canned ales and they're all delicious. The common theme is that they all smell out of this world. The nose on every can of theirs is sensational. Anyway, this is a fruity little citrus session ale which is crisp and refreshing. (Posted on 09/06/2015)

  20. Heaven in a can
    Review by Markiemark

I just can't believe that something this good can come out of a can! I don't know what I expected but this beer is just spectacular. Much more of an IPA than a simple pale ale but then just fantastic flavours. An all of that out of a tin can, I just don't know how they do that. Try it now you must (Posted on 07/06/2015)

  21. Roosters Yankee's Dandy
    Review by Roddenberry

Roosters Yankee Pale Ale on my little tasting session next. Flowery and hoppy on the nose, pours to a large head that quickly halves. Somewhere between gold and amber in colour. Hoppy and bitter on first taste, subtle flowery notes and wonderfully bitter and dry with a slight metallic note on the after taste. Gorgeous beer. (Posted on 09/05/2015)

  22. Yorkshire rules !!!
    Review by stivvy

Excellent beer, great to drink with a curry !! (Posted on 02/05/2015)

  23. Myeh
    Review by Cannybrew

Looks: a golden yellow well carbonated light brew with thin white whispy head short lived. Smell: bright, fresh, grapefruit. Taste: drier and flatter than expected. Bitter, cut grass. Bitter again. Feel: long mouthfeel and as you guess, bitter. Overall: myeh (Posted on 24/04/2015)

  24. At last!!
    Review by Jackanakanory

Finally a decent entry from a Yorkshire brewery (bar Thornbridge) Lovely light refreshing, great session ale (Posted on 24/04/2015)

  25. Yankee Doodle Dandy
    Review by wvari

A light, golden bitter. Some carbonation which carries the floral hop and fruity aroma forward. Made for a cracking lunchtime beer with my duck salad. Has more of a fruitiness than the usual pale ale citrus.. lovely stuff! (Posted on 16/04/2015)
