Style IPA
Country British Beers
ABV 5.00%
Serving Temp 6 to 8 °C
Bottle Size 330ml

With a hop store that would be the envy of all, North Yorkshire’s Roosters Brewing Co. layers modern hop flavours on top of vintage styles. The Fort Smith is a classic IPA which is brewed using American Citra and Chinook hops to create a huge tropical and citrus fruit character.

A thick, foamy head tops off this deep golden-coloured IPA. Aromas of tropical fruits, resin, grass and herbs are evident on the nose whilst a light sweetness and biscuit malts complement the similar flavours. This very sessionable beer is medium-light bodied with a dry, tingly finish.

  1. Good - but not great
    Review by Dead Derek

A good beer, but doesn't quite reach the heights of their Baby-Faced Assasin. Will almost always order more, just because I trust Roosters, but this is no.2 of their three main beers for me. Better than the Yankee, though. (Posted on 16/03/2017)

  2. Not Bad
    Review by FR

This was a good beer but not anything special it had nice flavours and bitter aftertaste. (Posted on 22/01/2017)

  3. Good, but not exceptional
    Review by Wethers

OK, but not as good as other Rooster beers (Posted on 09/01/2017)

  4. Easy drinking
    Review by Andrew

Pretty much as expected, very nice to drink with some good flavors and bitterness but some way to go match its counterparts.

I'm looking forward to trying their other beers and upcoming collaboration with Brewdog (Posted on 14/10/2016)

  5. Not bad
    Review by Tinman72

Not to bad but baby face Is much better (Posted on 11/10/2016)

  6. Nice APA
    Review by Jo

Pale yellow colour, juicy citrus aroma, malty flavour, medium mouthfeel, not usually a fan of APAs but this was good. (Posted on 29/09/2016)

  7. very nice
    Review by jake

really enjoyed this american pale ale. nice refreshing drink (Posted on 09/08/2016)

  8. Less accomplished sibling
    Review by Llamaman

Drank in the same session as the same brewery's 'Baby Faced Assassin', this beer comes up short. Less hoppy, but the malt doesn't step up. This one is a bit weaker so perhaps that why, but personally I'd go for the other beer. (Posted on 10/07/2016)

  9. Not the best
    Review by alanbullafc

Was expecting a lot more to this, easy to drink but nothing special at all, also appeared to lack body and taste. Will try some more Roosters to compare. (Posted on 10/06/2016)

  10. Mmmmmmmm
    Review by Paul S

Had this straight after an Elvis Juice, seemed weaker and not as hoppy as Baby Faced Assassin. Good as a session beer. (Posted on 01/06/2016)

  11. very drinkable

came as a replacement and was very pleasantly surprised. Will be ordering (Posted on 21/04/2016)

Nice Smooth Apa (Posted on 20/04/2016)

  13. Fantastic all round!
    Review by Wynnie

I put a mini beer festival together with 24 cans/bottles with some of the "best" beers in the world and this won our beer of the festival. Really well balanced flavor. (Posted on 31/03/2016)

  14. Great beer
    Review by Ole

Another good beer from Roosters. Not as good as their baby-faced assassin, but i enjoyed it. Hoppy. (Posted on 29/03/2016)

  15. Good but not Roosters Best
    Review by JohnH

Fort Smith is a decent, if unremarkable, APA with a somewhat unusual dryness to its flavour.
Of the three Roosters beers available on BeerHawk its definitely the weakest in my opinion, I'd buy an extra can (or three!) of Yankee or Baby Faced Assassin in preference to Fort Smith (Posted on 22/03/2016)

  16. Nice
    Review by Anton

Really nice APA. I would buy this again (Posted on 18/03/2016)

  17. Great stuff
    Review by BenY

Like this, nice fresh hops finished with a biscuit malt dryness (Posted on 02/03/2016)

  18. Very drinkable
    Review by S.Stanbridge

Lovely nose and very easy drinking. Slightly lacking in flavour but generally good. (Posted on 21/02/2016)

  19. Top notch APA

Lovely nose and very easy drinking. Slightly lacking in flavour but generally good. (Posted on 21/02/2016)

  20. Let down
    Review by Savmatt

Was expecting a lot more to this, easy to drink but nothing special at all (Posted on 13/12/2015)

  21. Love this stuff
    Review by Dale May

Didn't actually order this. I originally ordered 5x cans of Neck Oil only to be told they had sold out and would I take a replacement. Had a little browse and ordered this, and was taken aback by just how good it was. Nothing fancy about it at all, no fancy flavours or clever tasting notes. Just good, strong, clean tasting beer. Phenomenal. You could get very drunk, very quickly on this stuff. (Posted on 19/10/2015)

  22. Bang on
    Review by Ady Gray

I'm rapidly becoming a big fan of Roosters. The effort put in to layer new hops on top of old styles pays off in this one. Yet another winner from Roosters (Posted on 21/07/2015)

  23. Excellent Canned APA
    Review by Ay Pee Horne

Tasty little APA, with a gorgeous nose. Light and refreshing with plenty of juicy citrus fruits. Maybe just a little too strong to be a true session ale, but I'd sink a few regardless. (Posted on 07/06/2015)

  24. Alas Fort Smith Doesn't Make Me Jones
    Review by Roddenberry

I tried another from the Roosters range, this time Fort Smith, an American Pale Ale. Sweet and citrusy on the nose, mild, sweet and a soft hoppy taste. Would work very well as a session beer on a summers day, just doesn't tick my boxes, still a good beer though. Mulling it over, this sweet number would work excellently with BBQ food, in fact burgers in general. I'd recommend it, just not for me. (Posted on 09/05/2015)

  25. A real cracker
    Review by Jackankanory

Like the BFA this is a quality drop but much nicer on the pallet IMO, Very very drinkable, very very moorish, shame I only had one can. Its made the re-order list (Posted on 27/04/2015)

  26. A solid brew.
    Review by Cannybrew

Looks: pale golden yellow, finger thick soft foamy head, gentle carbonation. Smell: citrus, pineapple, freshly cut grass. Taste: light, fresh, fruity, aniseed, toffee. Feel: sweet malt, bitter finish. Champion! (Posted on 12/04/2015)
