Brewed by the independent van Eecke family brewery from Watou, West Flanders, Hommel is brewed only a stone?s throw from France.

Highly-rated and worth adding to your new favourites, Popering’s Hommelbier lives up to its humulus-inspired name. This deep golden ale from Belgium is made from a lovely blend of malts and hops, hops, hops!

Hoppy on the nose with an initial intense bitterness--thanks to a healthy dose of local hops, (the brewery is in Belgium's biggest hop growing area)--this beer has a rather smooth character to it yet finishes quite dry with a good bit of carbonation. Spicy and bitter with a subtle bit of citrusy sweetness--this is a nice refreshing beer.

A decent blonde ale, but overly bitter finish

Drunk within 50 kms of of its brewery in Watou its a classic Belgian Golden ale but personally I find it does not travel well. I like the small 25cl bottles but I find further afield and especially on arrival in uk I it acquires a more metallic taste but that may be due to the amount of hops they use. Its a must try ............ in Belgium
