Pouring a clear deep gold, this is as light and fresh a Helles Lager you will find. Pouring with a small head the taste is of spicy hops with a slight granular body. Perfect for a summer's day and barbecue!

The Mittenwalder brewery is 200 years old and is the highest brewery in Bavaria. Pure Alpine spring water is used in the traditional brewing process giving the product a unique clean and refreshing taste which complements the caramel quality of the Hallertauer hops. The beers are slow brewed using traditional methods and in strict accordance with the German Purity Law which means the only ingredients are water, hops, barley, and yeast.

A simple easy drinking helles. Refreshing light and lovely. I imagine it would go down even better on a hot sunny afternoon. (Posted on 05/02/2017)

A truly excellent Hellesdon lager. Crisp, pure slightly on the sweet side and very refreshing. Taste sits just long enough on the palate. Note to self : buy more next time (Posted on 15/12/2016)

  10. Das boot-le Review by Beer Baron
    Rating

Most of the German beers I've tried (bottled) have been a bit too fizzy - not this one. A nice flavour, rounded and a leaning to the sweet side. You'll enjoy the large bottle size. A really high quality German beer. (Posted on 02/05/2016)

  11. best of the lot Review by mightywomble

The problem here is, this is so good, when going to the pub ordering the draft beers is a distinct let down now.. Clean with no after taste great with a roast dinner. (Posted on 27/03/2016)

  13. It's Pure Hell and I Like It Review by Roddenberry
    Rating

Mittenwalder Karwendel Hell up next, slightly sweet and subtle fruit notes in the aroma, a decent head soon dissipates and it has a clear golden colour. The taste hits the same sweet and soft, fruity notes it smelled of. Lightly carbonated, it does froth up in the mouth a little and has a very light, hoppy after taste. Be very nice on a summer afternoon in a beer garden or if you're having a BBQ. A step up from most lagers and certainly one I'd entertain again, on a warm summers day. (Posted on 09/05/2015)

  17. Quaffable Review by Cannybrew
    Rating

A very pale colour with short lived loose head but laces glass all the way down. Smells a little grassy, summer days in a park. Tastes very smooth, sweet & malty. Feels sticky and warming, not what I expected from such a light looking beer. Quaffable. (Posted on 18/04/2015)

  18. Perfect Review by Ady Gray
