Low Alcohol Beer
During America's Prohibition, alcohol stronger than 0.5% was banned and a number of breweries took to brewing very low alcohol beer in order to stay in business. These beers were legally classed as a 'cereal beverage' but the public generally referred to them as "near beer", and the general consensus was that they weren't very good! In fact, alcohol-free beer has a long reputation for not having much flavour, but times have changed and these days you can get your hands on a variety of enjoyable alcohol-free beers.
Alcohol-free beer is generally 0.5% ABV or lower, with a crisp character and light, refreshing body. It also comes in a variety of styles; in addition to the classic German pilsner you'd expect to see 'alkoholfrei' versions of, you can also find alcohol-free wheat beers, Belgian pils and even American-style hoppy pale ales! Now candidly, we're not going to say that these beers are as good as the ones with alcohol, however if, for whatever reason, you do want to buy alcohol free beer online, then these are the very best we've found.
