Southwest of Brussels, in the quiet Belgian town of Vlezenbeek, the Lindemans family has been farming and homebrewing as long as anyone can remember, with commercial brewing commencing in 1811 in their barn-like brewery. Lambic, or spontaneously fermented beers, are among the world?s rarest. Produced more like a 'methode champenoise' champagne than a typical beer, these products mature in oak for nearly two years prior to release.

Routinely judged as one of the best gueuzes in the world, Lindeman’s Cuvée René is—without a doubt—the queen of gueuzes. A blend of old and young lambics matures in large oak barrels and then undergoes a secondary fermentation in champagne bottles to achieve a dry finish with an effervescent carbonation.

Admittedly, aromas and flavours of “dusty barnyard” and “earthy funk” can sound somewhat off-putting, but the notes of sour apple, lemon, and wood in this gueuze complement them nicely. Its lasting sour finish and medium body make this beer more accessible to the moderately adventurous than one might think.

The Madonna with the big boobies, this really is too good. A big fizzy sharpness, yeasty top notes, the slightest sweet note, and a faintly crusty ancient ambiance. The bumb.
Sublime brew by Lindemans & Graat price by Beer Hawk.

One of Lindemans finest beers. The balance of this geuze is near perfection, for me anyway. Slight acidity, bit of funk, sharp, dry and an amazingly refreshing finish.

It's great that it's so cometively priced, but it does mean I will just order more.

If I am ordering bottles this one is always one of the first on my list.

While it does, as you might expect, have a sharp/sour taste I find it to be an extremely refreshing and interesting drink.

Even better my wife isn't too keen to share.
