The Milk Stout Nitro is the nitrogen-conditioned counterpart to Left Hand's classic Milk Stout. While identical in ingredients and similar in taste--with notes of chocolate syrup, espresso, a lactosey-tartness--what sets this one apart is its mouthfeel. When nitrogen is added instead of carbon-dioxide to a beer, smaller bubbles are formed giving it a smooth and creamy quality. When a Nitro-beer is poured properly--by completely inverting the bottle into the glass--the beer will display a beautiful cascade that ultimately settles into a thick and velvety head.

Left Hand Brewing set craft beer history on the first night of the 2011 Great American Beer Festival by introducing the first nitrogen beer to be bottled without using a widget. They are the original masters. The Left Hand Nitro series includes the Milk Stout Nitro, Sawtooth Nitro, and Wake Up Dead Nitro--they'd be fun to try against their "classic" twins!

Really nice smooth stout, not sure what the point of the nitro is apart from making it look like Guinness, but its a great full flavoured stout (Posted on 12/01/2017)

Bought this and the standard non Nitro version to side by side. Enjoyed them both but preferred this one. Silky mouth feel due to the smaller bubbles. Well worth a try. (Posted on 14/11/2016)

This really is a joy to drink. I have tried a few others since buying this, Jet Black Heart from Brewdog and Innis and Gunn to name a couple but the smoothness and taste of this is far superior. (Posted on 07/05/2016)

This is the creamiest stout I've ever had. It reminded me of whipped cream in texture with lovely subtle coca and coffee flavors. An absolute delight and one of the best beer drinking experiences I've had to date. Buy buy buy! (Posted on 17/04/2016)

Very creamy, maybe just a tad too sweet. It can't hold a candle to Old Horny Bull Stout but it's still not a bad milk stout (Posted on 07/04/2016)

  25. Smooth,Smooth,Smooth Review by Nobby

The aroma is of cream toffee and burnt sugar. The palate is exactly the name of this stout, a milky chocolate and velvety smoothness with just enough of an underlie of light bitter hops to even things up.The 6% ABV is spot on. (Posted on 07/04/2016)

  30. Sweet and Stout Review by Bruce
    Rating

I had this for the first time this month, served the first time at 10 degrees and the second at 6. This does make a slight difference but is not going to kill the taste.
Initial smell is coffee but sweet.

Taste is oats but sweet milk going into a finish of brown sugar and raisins.

The pouring of this is a joy to watch and very satisfying to drink after waiting. If you have never had this before get some now. (Posted on 17/03/2016)

I first sampled this beaut in Vegas over the Christmas period and I fell in love...what a smooth milky stout that you can drink all year round and all day if I could. I am even planning to fly down to the left hand brewing company while I'm in Canada in June to see this mecca. (Posted on 03/03/2016)

  37. Hard pour, easy to recommend Review by Llamaman
    Rating

Like smooth stouts? Stop reading now and buy it.

This is probably the smoothest beer I\'ve ever drunk. Poured, as recommended, in the \'hard pour\' style, it delivered a huge creamy head. The head and liquid below were both creamy and as smooth as silk.

HOWEVER, compared to the non-nitro version, I felt that the flavour had suffered a little. It still tasted good (very much so) but I felt a little complexity had been sacrificed at the altar of smoothness.
Buy both and try them together - see what you think. I think the non-nitro just edges it. (Posted on 28/01/2016)

  38. Smooth and creamy Review by Cresp

This was the first Nitro-beer I ever tried and, before drinking it, I was sceptical about the brewers claims of enhanced smoothness - I was wrong. Good chocolate and coffee flavours but unusually silky in your mouth. I'll definitely order this again. (Posted on 02/01/2015)
