Details

A reinvention of an earlier version, the Rombald is Ilkley Brewery's remastered American Amber Ale. Enjoyable aromas of citrus, earthy hops and a bit of spice are evident when taking a whiff whilst the flavours also feature a complex malt character that is complemented by a light hop bitterness. Medium-bodied with a delicate carbonation, the Rombald is a fresh and tasty little giant.

Didn’t take to this beer, rather plain, not well bodied in my opinion, shame because Ilkley do make some good beers.

Nice amber ale at a sessionable ABV. Malty, a slight spiciness, balanced bitterness.
Decent Amber Ale

Nice deep amber colour with good clarity and holds a decent head, quite an assertive bitterness for an american amber and it has a full malt flavour with a touch of spice that also made me think it might have rye in it (but apparently it doesn't), resiny hop aroma is quite restrained and taste is quite resiny american hops more than fruit. It definitely got better as it warmed up but not quite there for me maybe a touch too bitter and I'd like more pungency and fruitiness from the hops, still worth a try if you enjoy the style.
