Product Reviews

  • Pleasant

    Review by Aaron

A nice pleasant stereotypical British session beer (Posted on 06/11/2017)

  • Easy drinking

    Review by Neil

Easy to drink, and even easier to drink more of! Enjoyable session ale with a good taste that's perfect for a summer's afternoon where you know you'll be having a few and don't want a hangover! (Posted on 10/07/2017)

  • Great low gravity pale ale

    Review by Lupomaniac

A solid low gravity pale ale
Subtle hop aroma with citrus notes
A assertive bitterness and a clean finish
A well brewed beer! (Posted on 26/06/2017)

  • Great go too nothing special.

    Review by Matt

This is a brilliant go too pale ale! Easy to drink and briliantly refreshing. Rhe (Posted on 13/06/2017)

  • Easy drinking pale ale from good brewery

    Review by Simon

A nice, refreshing, light-weight, easy drinking pale ale. Ilkley isn't far from my birth town of Harrogate and I like to support local breweries. I've had this on draught before and it's an excellent session ale. If you are thirsty on a hot day you wouldn't go far wrong with a pint of this. (Posted on 31/05/2017)

  • Plain Jane

    Review by Daniel

Nice and light and very easy to drink. One of the better session IPAs I have had (Posted on 17/05/2017)

  • Fairly standard pale ale

    Review by Chr(IPA)s

This pale ale doesn't have a lot to offer. The Amarillo and Cascade hops don't really come through on initially tasting it. Inoffensive but doesn't offer anything to distinguish it from other pale ales on the market (Posted on 30/04/2017)

  • Good session beer

    Review by Moorland Boy

Pleasant taste, not overly strong on flavour but certainly not bland. Not too strong so a few in the afternoon won't ruin our evening. (Posted on 01/04/2017)

  • Best of breed

    Review by Llamaman

Session IPAs are never going to compete with their stronger cousins for flavour and mouthfeel, but there's a time and place for lighter beers and they should be judged on their own merits.
I can't think of a better session beer than this. It's excellent. Tasty and refreshing, it's a gem. I'll be ordering plenty for BBQ season. (Posted on 05/01/2017)

Excellent session beer. (Posted on 20/06/2016)

  • Mary Jane

    Review by Ali B

A gently sparkling, fresh tasting session beer. Gives the taste buds dry hoppy afternotes. (Posted on 15/05/2016)

  • drinkable

    Review by wethers

Drinkable but not as good as their Pale ale (Posted on 21/04/2016)

  • Very drinkable

    Review by palerich

Again, a very good value beer from Ilkley. Very easy to drink and not too punchy. (Posted on 12/10/2015)

  • Great summer beer

    Review by mikejohnston01

This is a golden coloured beer with a light foam head. A light hoppy zing hits you on the first taste but finishing with a slight bitter hit. Great for those long hot summer nights sitting in the garden watching the sun go down (Posted on 26/08/2015)

  • Superb IPA and cracking value

    Review by Dr Bob

Describes itself as a trans-Atlanic IPA and blends the traditional and new world influences well. Perfect for a day in the sun and seriously good value at this price. Good to see a full size bottle of quality IPA. (Posted on 29/04/2015)

  • On Ilkley Moor Bah Tat

    Review by Ady Gray

Whether on Ilkley Moor or not, this is superb. Not too strong so you could go on a session with it but bursting with flavour. I'm becoming a big fan of Ilkley brews now... (Posted on 02/03/2015)

  • Top session beer

    Review by Jack Swans

Ilkley Mary Jane is an excellently balanced bitter with an abv that allows the drinker to go on session. The important thing is that the flavours are strong even though the beer is lower alcohol. The sign of expert brewing in this style. (Posted on 05/02/2015)

  • The Ilkley Brewery is a big favourite of mine and Mary Jane rivals many of the American Pale Ale's.

    Review by The Purveyor

Mary Jane is golden straw coloured with a lively foaming white head. Once opened it bursts with zingy hoppy citrus notes. On the first sip you are hit with a sweet hoppy taste which gives way to a citrus rush and finishes with a mild bitter hit. It is as refreshing as water, but at 3.5% don't drink too many. Perfect with seafoods and chicken salads. It is best drunk in Ilkley in the summer after a long walk around the Cow and Calf. Gorgeous as nectar. (Posted on 04/01/2013)
