Harviestoun Broken Dial

Harviestoun Broken Dial

Style Brown and Amber Ale
Country British Beers
ABV 4.5%
Serving Temp 4 to 6 °C
Bottle Size 330ml
Toffee sweetness and roasted coffee notes are balanced by fruity hops in Broken Dial, Harviestoun's zingy amber ale. Oats and wheat give a smooth, creamy body, while Celeia, Simcoe, Liberty and Citra hops burst with pithy orange, cut grass and peach before giving way to a lingering, mouth coating bitterness. Harviestoun Broken Dial won a bronze medal at the 2016 World Beer Cup in the category Ordinary or Special Bitter, and a Bronze Medal at the World Beer Awards 2015 in the category United Kingdom - Amber Pale Ale.

    Review by JM95

Nice and smooth with a great amount of maltiness. Nice as a summer drink served chilled on a hot night. (Posted on 18/06/2017)

A well hopped amber ale with the Simcoe and Citra hops taking the lead. A very enjoyable brew for a summers day. (Posted on 25/09/2016)

    Review by Beer Baron

A beer probably best to use for cooking. Not overly good when chilled, interesting to read it was nicer when left to breathe. I shall buy another bottle and report back. (Posted on 07/07/2016)

  8. Malty and zesty
    Review by Mark

Served chilled this exceeded my expectations. Lots of malty and zesty flavour. (Posted on 01/06/2016)

  9. Broken Dial
    Review by Ali B

Full of hoppy fresh flavours. Enjoyed by itself at room temp but I would have preferred slightly cooler, drunk with a snack. (Posted on 15/05/2016)

  10. Needs to breathe
    Review by Beer Monster

Zero head, the nose doesn't do it justice on the first pour. Can taste the favoured "Bitter and Twisted" in the family tree. As instructed I drank mine slightly chilled - maybe better at room temp? Average. (Posted on 25/03/2016)

  11. Lovely burst of Simcoe hop
    Review by SteveP

I love beers that use the Simcoe hop so this is right up my street, Lovely hop flavour with well balanced malts. Nice level of bitterness in the finish. (Posted on 10/03/2016)

  12. Hey up
    Review by Andywilks

Good amber ale strong flavours helps make a mean steak and ale pie ! (Posted on 08/03/2016)

  13. Enjoyable and decent price
    Review by S.Stanbridge

Amber ale with distinctive malty undertones. Surprisingly fruity finish. Nice enough beer. Slightly too malty for my taste, however. (Posted on 22/02/2016)

  14. Slurp
    Review by Llamaman

A great beer this - a classic British amber ale, but using modern citrusy hop varieties for a bit of a zing. Biscuit malt, peach and grapefruit hops and a smooth finish with a hint of bitterness that draws you back in.
Slips down very easily - really deserves a 500ml bottle. 4.5* (Posted on 22/12/2015)

  15. Love it!
    Review by Andrew

Great value. Lovely flavouroursome amber ale. Biscuity (Posted on 02/07/2015)

  16. Class
    Review by stuartybarlow

Beautiful coffee flavours topped off with grapefruit notes. Toasted malt flavour that gets more intense the further down the glass you get. (Posted on 18/02/2015)

  17. Silver Fern Stout
    Review by Jack Swans

I bought this as part of the Great British Beer mixed case. well worth it.
BLACK! Seriously, this is blacker than the New Zealand Rugby shirt. They should sponsor it.
The first thing that sprang to mind was 'tar', closely followed by 'coffee' - there's a ton of toasted malt character in there, too. A faint bit of fruity/floral character but really the tar/coffee aromas dominate. World class stout just like the rugby team
