Fresh, fruity and balanced, Highlander from Fyne Ales in Argyll is a 4.8% ABV amber beer. Crisp and refreshing with grassy hops, a chewy toffee backbone and plenty of zesty citrus notes, Highlander is light and sessionable with a pleasant lingering bitterness.

Brewery Info

Fyne Ales was founded in 2001 by Jonny and Tuggy Delap after forced early retirement had them moving back to Tuggy's ancestral home and lands. Their aim was always to find a new purpose for the estate to create jobs, tourism and industry for Argyll. The idea of a brewery was mooted and sold, and so, 10BBL brew kit was installed in one of the old cattle sheds.

Fyne Ales started out as a traditional ale outfit, and they rapidly garnered local recognition. With the advent of the craft beer revolution, they started to branch out into craftier offerings starting with the American hopped Jarl. They moved into Belgian and American inspired farmhouse creations with their origins project, which sees them experimenting with mixed fermentation, barrel aging, locally sourced seasonal ingredients and weird and wonderful recipes.

Whatever you choose you can be sure it'll be a Fyne Ale!

Earthy and warming.

Pours clear amber brown with thin beige head. Aromas of cinnamon boiled sweets, toffee and light lemony hop. Taste has chewy treacle toffee with a mild, bitter marmalade finish. It has a soft feel with a light sparkle. Earthy and warming export-like ale with a superb bitter citrus balance. Really nice traditional beer.

Easy-drinking malty ale. Tangy leathery caramel followed by slightly peppery English and floral US hops. Mix of traditional, brown and session ale.
