CAMRA's Champion Bottled Beers of Britain 2015

The results are in and the winner of the prestigious Champion Bottled Beer of Britain has been crowned for 2015!

The CAMRA award of Champion Bottled Beer of Britain is considered the most prestigious accolade available to British brewers. This case of 15 finalists for the 2015 award profiles the finest British bottle-conditioned ales of the year; each having been through a careful, almost year-long process of tastings and expert examination to make it to the final. A celebration of the variety available from Britain’s breweries with pale ales, stouts, porters or bitters, this case allows you to pick your own champion and see if you agree with the judges who awarded the Gold medal to Harvey’s of Sussex.

The case includes an exceptional and unusual champion beer from Harvey’s, a worthy runner-up from Mordue and two entries from Otley Brewery amongst the other entrants. With such a fine pedigree, demand for this case is sure to be strong, so be sure to order your case now to avoid disappointment.

  1. Great variety of beers Review by Martin

Excellent choice of beers by the Camra judges Got myself and a friend a case and we loved all of them. Nicely priced too! (Posted on 16/01/2016)

  2. Excellent case, one of the best yet Review by Crofty Drinker

This selection was one of the best I have tried yet, well done CAMRA. Great variety and balance of styles. Particularly enjoyed the Porters (Posted on 17/12/2015)

  3. A great selection of a variety of beers Review by NickSaintJohn

Some diverse and wonderfully tasting beers. From stouts to pales, there\'s plenty to keep your taste buds interested, and a great selection to broaden the horizons of anyone new to beer (Posted on 16/12/2015)

  4. Excellent Selection Review by Simon

I very much enjoyed this box. Nice mix of styles and breweries, (Posted on 09/12/2015)

  5. Not as I had hoped Review by tehhaz

Opening the box gave a wave of disappointment when finding it contained at least 4 bottles widely available in supermarkets - and at considerably lower prices than the average price per bottle here.

The majority of the beers are fine, but only one, Mordue IPA, really knocked my socks off. The Hook Norton Double Stout and pale from Stewart were also very good, whilst on the flip side, the box also contains the two worst porters I have ever tasted, and the champion beer from Harveys is a bizarre choice for a winner.

  6. Excellent for a mini beer festival! Review by Steve M

There was a bit of a delay on delivery, but once received, a beer tasting session was arranged between friends and family (5) and a marking system employed.
Everybody enjoyed the range and agreed on the GBBF winner. Actually, the Stouts and Porters were the favourites which was a bit of a surprise as most of us are biased towards IPA's and Pale Ales. Never the less - Totally enjoyed and will be doing another range again. Cheers!!!! (Posted on 07/11/2015)

  7. Best yet Review by Nick

In a world of super-hoppy craft beer, this case shows that there are still superb 'traditional' ales out there. The selection may be sold out, but the individual bottles are very much available. Coniston Bluebird may just be the best beer I've ever tasted! (Posted on 04/11/2015)

  8. Pretty good selection! Review by Beer Baron

I didn't get to try some of these as the case was opened at a bbq. Lots of appreciative faces however!

A great selection of strengths and varieties. I've finally popped my stout 'cherry', and I shall be buying more. What a shame it's sold out! (Posted on 26/10/2015)

  9. Winners are grinners Review by Vicky

Clearly with 15 beers to go at you're going to get some that outshine others. Great to see Bluebird bitter still more than holding its own against the new kids on the block. The Otley beers didn't quite cut the mustard for me, Radical Road was top drawer (Posted on 25/10/2015)

  10. Delicious selection with only a few misses. Review by TheBeerBooth

I loved this case and tasting the CBBoB 2015. There were one or two that were not to my taste including the 09 Blonde and the Damson Porter. However I am glad that I tried these brews and my issues are purely of my taste not the quality of the beer. (Posted on 24/10/2015)

  11. Good Selection - some nice beers but slightly underwhelming Review by OB

First time i've ordered the CAMRA case, and while there wasn't a bad beer in the selection it was a case of nice rather than exceptional beer overall. More i guess my tastes not matching CAMRAs with this than anything else.

Loved the Otley beers but given some of the superb stuff being produced by breweries like Siren i found this selection to be mainly good beers that i wouldn't race back to order individually.

Like others i had issues with the delivery company - one bottle broken that beerhawk resolved with great service, and the 2 cases were just left on the doorstep in plain view of the street so glad they weren't taken. (Posted on 22/10/2015)

  12. Great value, great variety - do not miss! Review by Jo T

Well, these beers are all top class. Naturally you might not like all types included in this selection, but that's fine - the variety in the box is great and it's always good to go outside your natural favourite line-up. Don't miss it next year! (Posted on 22/10/2015)

  13. Great Selection Review by Nick R

Overall a great selection. I wasn't keen on a couple of them (can't recall which ones) but the quality of the others balanced it out. Would have bought again but it's sold out! (Posted on 19/10/2015)

  14. disappointing for a Champions box Review by fnord

While none of the beers are bad, I found too many of them just OK. Certainly not the premium range I was expecting (Posted on 18/10/2015)

  15. A must. Review by Grey

Almost finished my second case and my only disappointment is you are out of stock! Really good beers with one or two exceptionally good, Love the Oxymoron and the Fullers 1845. (Posted on 15/10/2015)

  16. Excellent case glad I ordered two! Review by Mark_Ale_J

From first bottle to last I have not tasted a below average beer and as for the little double stout ...oh mama! (Posted on 13/10/2015)

  17. Top selection of beers Review by SK

Excellent selection of styles and flavours, very good showcase of some of the best brewers in the UK. (Posted on 13/10/2015)

  18. Excellent selection of UK brews Review by ScottK

Very good cross-section of the current top brewers in the UK with an excellent variety of styles and tastes. I\'m a big fan of the heavier beers but also enjoyed those on the more hoppy side as well. (Posted on 13/10/2015)

  19. Excellent selection Review by Liam

A good mix of different styles of beers. Enjoyed all of them, I would recommend buying 2 cases rather than one, so that you can share them more easily. (Posted on 13/10/2015)

  20. They\'ve done it again! Review by Moschops

Once again a cracking selection of great British beers that have featured highly at the GBBF. It\'s the variety above all and consistent quality that makes this case stand out. (Posted on 12/10/2015)

  21. some good beers in this case Review by len from leyton

Overall a good collection of beers. I liked mostly the dark beers in case. I am not fond of the citrussy hoppy light beers. But thats just my palate i think.
nicest beer was from rebel brewery .Penryn ale. this was really good and flavourful.
One of the beers tasted like a cup of earl grey tea. I had to throw it away...yuk.
Well done beerhawk for trying to get together the case though. (Posted on 09/10/2015)

  22. Overal a very good case Review by Blind_Drunk

In general it was a very goo case, there was a few not to brilliants beers which is expected with any case. I did hope there would be more beers closer to the top end of the best beers list which I guess is my only real gripe. (Posted on 08/10/2015)

  23. Pretty excellent so far Review by Ben

I am giving this 4* as there is always room for improvement. Still working my way through the selection and all pretty excellent so far. The stand out for me is the Mordue IPA - just excellent. I would order a crate of that alone. The damson porter has a great nose and is seriously tasty - yet to try the Elland Porter which looks promisihng. Many bottle conditioned ales which I prefer. Wish I had bought another crate but now out of stock - shucks! (Posted on 08/10/2015)

  24. Top Case! Review by QK

An excellent selection of different and interesting beers, which made a great stand by to drown rugby world cup sorrows! (Posted on 04/10/2015)

  25. Some stunning beers! Review by Llamaman

A bit of a mixed bag - some a little disappointing, some pretty good and some smacking it out of the park.
Ignoring the Champion, the Mordue IPA in particular stood out, as did the 1872 Porter. Fullers 1845 remains a great (and readily available) beer. (Posted on 03/10/2015)

  26. Great selection, only sad I was limited to 2 cases :) Review by Paul

Almost through the 1st case. What an amazing variety of beers - not a single one I would try again (and again and again......and again).

    (Posted on 02/10/2015)

  27. Decent range of beers Review by Cresp

There is a decent range of beers in this case but unfortunately the only beer worth mentioning is Fullers 1845 which was outstanding. (Posted on 01/10/2015)

  28. Good selection Review by LoneR

Some excellent beers in here, particularly the Castle Rock Elsie Moe. The Runner up, Mordue IPA was enjoyable, but no too sure if it should have been rated so high? Very pleased that Harvey\'s Imperial Stout won though as it is a regular at my table. (Posted on 29/09/2015)

  29. All good so far... Review by Botsworth

Well, I\'ve tried four of the 2015 case so far and while nothing has blown my socks off, it\'s all good. I\'m familiar with most of these anyway and represent some great breweries - venerable ones such as Hook Norton, Fuller\'s and Harvey\'s; some of the best more recent ones (notably the brilliant Castle Rock), and a couple of new ones on me (Rebel, Stewart). Will let you know when I get a WOW out of them! (Posted on 23/09/2015)

  30. Good variety, good tastes. Review by IanH

Hadn't appreciated these were bottle conditioned when I ordered them, didn't suffer too much from sediment overflow though.

Good selection, as others have commented the Dunham must be an acquired taste. (Posted on 18/02/2015)

  31. Missed the GBBF? Look no further... Review by Eddie

Absolute stonker of a case, bringing together all the main contenders across a wide range of beer styles. Only issue was that I ordered it so early that my case didn't contain the winner from Marble... however, a quick message to the customer service team at BH soon sorted that out :) Look forward to 2015's round-up! (Posted on 23/11/2014)

  32. Excellent case - apart from the Dunham choc/cherry beer Review by Dom Rice

All very good, can see why most of them reached the latter stages... apart from the Dunham beer! Agree with another reviewer that it was undrinkable. (Posted on 18/11/2014)

  33. Impressive range Review by Chris

Really good range across the spectrum of CBOBs but, whilst appreciating the demand, you'd at least expect the actual overall champion to be in the box. Where's my Boltmaker?!

Edit from BeerHawk.:- Chris, Glad you liked the beer, this case features the Champion bottled beers of Britain. Boltmaker won CAMRA's Cask competition. The winner of their bottled competition was Marble's Chocolate, which is included in the case (Posted on 12/11/2014)

  34. Great selection, as usual Review by Allan

Enjoyed almost all of these championship bottled beers.
There's always a risk that our tastes will differ from the judges, but I found the Dunham beer undrinkable! Had it been at a pub, I'd have taken it back as "off".
However, this is the first time this has ever happened to me via Beerhawk, so not too bothered. (Posted on 16/10/2014)

  35. A Good Range Review by Ovenbeasts

I've enjoyed the vast majority of the bottles. The risk with any mixed case is not all beers would be to my taste but the Marble beers, Moor, Grain and Fullers beers were excellent. Well worth trying. (Posted on 07/10/2014)

  36. Excellent case Review by Paul

I totally enjoyed this case of beer and there wasn't one I didn't like. (Posted on 07/10/2014)

  37. good beer Review by Allan

enjoyed all of the beers would recommend them (Posted on 06/10/2014)

  38. Well received! Review by Cardinal Taster

Got this for a 50th present for my mate and he's really enjoying them so far! (Posted on 29/09/2014)

  39. Excellent case of beers Review by Cliff

An excellent selection of beers. I'm looking forward to ordering next year's selection already :-) (Posted on 29/09/2014)

  40. Great selection if beers! Review by Jrfoster

Really enjoyed last years box and this years looks like it will be just as good, looking forward to it.

Nice to get some september sun to start the lighter beers in and looking forward to the deeper darker beers as the winter draws in.

I was also a bit dissapointed to with city link who told me that it could not be left without a signature only to come home and find it sat outside the front door. Lucky it wasn't swiped as the logoing makes what it is clear (issue with city link not logo on box).

    Great beers! (Posted on 21/09/2014)

  41. A selection of beers Review by ultragoat

Some interesting beers, though I should have read the contents before ordering, my own fault to be a little disappointed when I found that I had already tried at least 5 of the beers bought (Posted on 20/09/2014)

  42. Excellent Review by Andrew

A great selection of quality ales at a good price. (Posted on 19/09/2014)

  43. Great idea Review by Avantgardener

Liked the idea of a crateful of winning beers, more than the actual drinking of them! Wouldn't normally buy such a wide-ranging selection as this, as many were not to my taste, despite being award-winners. (Posted on 12/09/2014)

  44. Excellent selection and fast delivery Review by Peter H

Really nice mix of unusual and interesting beers. Bottle conditioned makes so much difference. Well pleased with both last and this years. (Posted on 10/09/2014)

  45. Selection Review by Andy

    07 / 09 /14:
An excellent combination at a very reasonable price! (Posted on 07/09/2014)

  46. great product, terrible choice of courier Review by dan109

Having got through bout half the beers i can say this is a great mix of beers. If you only like one type of ale its probably not for you but if you like sampling multiple types of beer you wont be disappointed.

The only problem i had was the courier company (city link) is useless. One case broken, two missed deliveries, eventually collected direct from them and even then had to argue and threaten complaints to get the package off of them. Real shame the purchase would have had a full 5 stars otherwise. (Posted on 07/09/2014)

  47. Interesting variety for a great price Review by Dave

Wide variety of very tasty ales at a really great price. Of course one or two might be found for a few pence cheaper in the local supermarket, but otherwise these aren't widely available, represent a variety of regions and even countries, and are all delicious. (Posted on 04/09/2014)

  48. Fine ales, quick delivery. Review by Lee B

A great selection of quality ales. (Posted on 04/09/2014)

  49. Love beer so what's not to like? Review by Michael

Great beer, easy order, quick delivery, pretty good price, my wife didn't like the hoppy beers but then I already knew that so more for those that do, that's a win win in my book. It was good to try some great beer I may otherwise have not come across for some time.
    Thank you (Posted on 03/09/2014)

  50. Great Variety and Excellent Quality. Review by EDP

Fantastic selection of top quality ales. Not all to my exact tastes, but that would be boring, wouldn't it?!
The Fuller's 1845 was the pick of the bunch. Absolutely outstanding! (Posted on 03/09/2014)

  51. Really good range Review by Moschops

Great selection but my only criticism is that if it's CBOB box then where was the Timmy's Ringbolter which won the whole thing??

***Editor - Thanks for your review, Ringbolter won the cask competition, the winner of the Champion Bottled Competition was Marble Chocolate, which was in the Champion Bottled Beer Case :)*** (Posted on 03/09/2014)

  52. Fantastic quality Review by Ed

Thoroughly enjoyed this case which was delivered very promptly. Loved the range of beers as it got me trying something new. (Posted on 03/09/2014)

  53. Excellent beers! Review by Tony

I wouldn't expect any less - Champion bottle beers & champion there were! (Posted on 03/09/2014)

  54. Excellent experience! Review by David

As I had expected, the beers were often distinctively different from each other, but not one disappointed! Will certainly repeat a most enjoyable experience! (Posted on 02/09/2014)

  55. Excellent selection Review by CJ

A lovely box of very nice beers. Great variety of styles and verry quick delivery too! (Posted on 02/09/2014)

  56. Great mix... Review by IanH

Good case, nice selection of beers, obviously well chosen by the judges, you won't be disappointed. (Posted on 02/09/2014)

  57. Brilliant beers Review by Dave

I loved the variety in this case, even a good Porter in there which I usually can't stand! (Posted on 02/09/2014)

  58. Excellent Review by Usey

What a terrific drink, absolutely loved this case all the beers were a top drink. (Posted on 02/09/2014)

  59. Fabulous sampler Review by Greendragon

Not a bad beer in the bunch. Heavy on the pales ales but since I like that sort of thing that's not a complaint. (Posted on 02/09/2014)

  60. Excellent Review by dan

Thoroughly enjoyed the mini-GBBF I was able to host for myself. (Posted on 02/09/2014)

  61. Dissappointed these cases are no longer in stock Review by Geoff

Excellent selection of the best bottled real ales available. I did order two cases and am sorry I didn't order more. (Posted on 27/02/2014)

  62. A great selection, looking forward to next year's. Review by Mike

Every beer had a unique taste, a great variety and all were superb. (Posted on 23/01/2014)

  63. Excellent case, great beers, wish i'd ordered 2 cases. Review by Hendy

A great selection & not 1 has disappointed me. I thought the price was good for the selection offered. Why didn't I order 2 cases? (Posted on 14/11/2013)

I still haven't received my ordered I ordered it on the 13th I keep phoning but don't seem to be getting anywhere . Usually very pleased .
Great variety of beers. Arrived quickly and well packaged.
Were unable to fulfill my order due to stock issues so had to go elsewhere for the majority of my order. Had to chase up my refund 3 separate times before it was paid back to me. Disappointing service.
