Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus

Details
The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek, macerating raspberries in 2 year old Lambic to make a fantastic thirst quencher. When young, the Rose de Gambrinus will be full and fruity while later on, the sour lambic taste will become dominant.
Style Sour Beer
Country Belgian Beers
ABV 5.00%
Serving Temp 6-7 °C
Bottle Size 375ml
Our sommelier’s favourite Cantillon beer, the Rosé de Gambrinus is exactly how a raspberry lambic should be. Much less fruit-forward than other fruit lambics, this raspberry lambic is a perfect balance of dry tartness with a lovely raspberry accent. Boldly tart, sour, and “funky” flavours are complemented by lightly sweet and tart raspberries. Very dry, crisp, and heavily carbonated, once accustomed to this style, the Rosé de Gambrinus will be a hard one to put down.

  • Can't beat cantillon

    Review by Woody

Stunning sour with sharp taste and very fruity, one of my favs (Posted on 02/06/2017)

  • Mouth picking education

    Review by CeleryGeneral

I don't mean to state the obvious but even by sour beer standards this beer is extremely tart. A biting vinegar like astringent finish that for some one who is trying to begin drinking sour beer is a challenge. It's a stunning beer perfectly made. I'd start with Salty Kiss or Calypso however for your first sour. (Posted on 09/02/2017)

  • Great

    Review by Jack

I love sour beers and this was perfect a nice mix of sour and fruity. (Posted on 30/01/2016)

  • An Eye Opener

    Review by DuffBeer

Opens your eyes while closing your cheeks. By golly its sour but the raspberry thats froths up your nose prepares you a little so after a few sips you begin to get the hang of it. (Posted on 17/07/2015)

  • Fruity and sour

    Review by Markiemak

This is a bit of a case sensation to normal beer drinkers so sour but with a set rasberry flavour. I love to experiment and would definitely recommend this one (Posted on 25/04/2015)

  • Sour turned up to 11

    Review by Beer Novice

I thought I liked sours but this one really does crank it up.

I can tell that in time it will probably become a favourite, but right now it's a little too much for me to enjoy.

The quality comes through though. (Posted on 23/04/2015)

  • Cantillons Finest

    Review by aberdeenlad

This is probably in my top 3 Cantillon beers. Its an amazing sour beer, with really nice fruitiness coming through. Drink quickly after buying as fruit flavours degrade over time. Within a year should be fine. (Posted on 26/03/2015)

  • It's a framboise, Jim, but not as we know it ...

    Review by interzen

Let's get it straight - if you don't like your beers sour then you're not going to like this. End of story.

Pour it out and it looks like red wine vinegar, and at first sniff you'd probably think it was red wine vinegar with added raspberries. Get past that, though, and you've got possibly the best raspberry beer in existence.

None of your artificial flavourings or fruit syrups here, this is tooth-dissolvingly, toe-curlingly sour but the combination of raspberries, gueuze-like funk and high carbonation make this work superbly.

An acquired taste, to be sure, but well worth investigating if you're remotely interested in Belgian beer. (Posted on 26/02/2015)
