Yet another of the UK’s heavyweight breweries hails from the idyllic Peak District, It must be something in the water (ahem, liquor). Buxton are absolute master craftsmen and you would have to go far (at least Huddersfield, anyway!) to find someone who comes even close to their level of skill when it comes to producing IPAs. It pours golden, murky, almost opaque. The aroma is pineapple, orange and mild earthiness. To taste, it starts sweet, the heavy hopping is evident throughout with citrus and pine coming through strongly and it’s also got a mild acidity which balances the richness of the hops and the sweetness of the malts well. This is a beer to go miles for and at 7.2%, inching towards imperial territory like a once little-known French artillery general, you probably won’t be going too much further after a few!
