Spain’s is not well known for its’ bee, although surprisingly, their brewing traditions date back to the late 1800s, with Barcelona’s Estrella Damm the first to be established in 1876. Since then beer consumption has become one of the most consumed drinks in the country. The Spanish have a preference for cold and crisp lager, however, tastes are changing with craft beer boom slowly spreading into the mega-breweries’ heartlands. La Virgen are one such craft brewery that have sprung up in recent years, producing some classic styles, as well as, some very interesting, Spanish centric beers.
