Details

Brooklyn Brewery was started in 1987 by former Associated Press correspondent Steve Hindy and former Chemical Bank lending officer Tom Potter. The label design and company logo were created by the world renowned designer, Milton Glaser, best known for the 'I Love NY' logo. Brewed in Brooklyn, East India Pale Ale gives a nod to tradition with East Anglian pale malt and East Kent Goldings hops. These English ingredients are used in combination with zesty American hops to create a clean, well hopped IPA with plenty of pine and citrus, a robust caramel backbone and plenty of bitterness.

Brewery Info

Originally one of America’s foremost brewing centres thanks to its large German population, the last Brooklyn-based brewery closed in 1976 in the face of overwhelming competition from bigger Midwest breweries and consumer preference (at the time) for light pilsner beers.

Brooklyn resident Steve Hindy made it his mission to reignite brewing in the area, and in 1984 founded Brooklyn Brewery with the goal of bringing good beer back to New York City. Now headed up by Brewmaster, beer author and all-round beer icon Garrett Oliver, Brooklyn Brewery has become an international beacon for good beer.
