Brooklyn Brown Ale

Details
Brooklyn Brewery was started in 1987 by former Associated Press correspondent Steve Hindy and former Chemical Bank lending officer Tom Potter. The label design and company logo were created by the world renowned designer, Milton Glaser, best known for the 'I Love NY' logo.
Style Brown and Amber Ale
Country American Beers
ABV 5.60%
Serving Temp 10 to 12°C
Bottle Size 355ml
Award-winning and the original, Brooklyn’s Brown Ale is full-flavoured and smooth. This brown ale combines aspects of a Northern English brown ale with Southern English ones and then tops it off with a firm American hop character. Complex malt flavours of caramel, chocolate, coffee, and roastiness give a complex richness while delicate hop aromas and bitterness provide a nice balance. This brown ale is easy drinking and classically Brooklyn.

Nice and nutty - classic US brown ale. A bit fizzy for my taste, but good all the same. (Posted on 13/08/2016)

    Review by Jack

Now my favourite Brooklyn Brewery product - intense yet delightful flavours made this an incredibly easy drink. It wasn't like other craft beers where I felt one would have been enough - this is something you could drink all night. (Posted on 20/05/2016)

  • Yum.

    Review by Tipple

A sweeter, maltier version of Newcastle Brown.
Better than that makes it sound. (Posted on 21/10/2015)

  • 3,000 miles West of Newscastle

    Review by Tipple

Not a facsimile of Newcastle Brown, more a reimagining. It's sweeter, and there's more a sense of roast - those chocolatey/coffee notes (although it's by no means a stout).
Dare I say it... it's better? Yes. Yes it is. (Posted on 21/10/2015)

  • Brooklyn's Nut Gone Beer

    Review by Llamaman

As the title of the review suggests, nuttiness is the order of the day here. Another reviewer has suggested breadiness and I'll not disagree.
The malt is allowed to take centre stage here, so a nice change from the hop-led beers of the zeitgeist.
It disappeared rather quickly so it must be doing something right. (Posted on 20/10/2015)

  • A nice alternative

    Review by palerich

Was a good choice to contrast my usual pale ale orders. Very flavoursome. Worth a try, though I probably prefer its UK cousins when it comes to darker beer, (Posted on 16/10/2015)

  • Yankee Beer For Lads From The Toon

    Review by Ay Pee Horne

An American influenced Newcastle Brown. Sweeter, maltier and with a more roasted profile than the British offering. Not one for a warm Summer day, but delicious at this time of year. (Posted on 22/01/2015)
