Delirium Tremens

Delirium Tremens

£3.49
4.55

Style Pale Ale
Country Belgian Beers
ABV 8.50%
Serving Temp 10 to 12°C
Bottle Size 330ml
Named for “the shakes” that one gets after a heavy night of drinking, Delirium Tremens Belgian Strong Ale will probably do just that. Producing this beer requires three different yeast cultures and the result is intense flavours of honey, spice, pears, apricot, golden raisin and subtle citrus alongside rather complex aromas. Pair a dry finish with a solid bitterness from both Saaz and Styrian hops and this nicely-balanced beer is one you’d want to drink again and again.

  5. Worth the risk
    Review by Gerry

A strong beer, but not overwhelming. It is lighter tasting than its ABV would suggest. It is hoppy and malty. Very moreish. (Posted on 14/07/2017)

    Review by Shunt

A strong crisp flavour that really lets you know that this is a beer not to be messed with.
A Bitter hit with a dry finish due to the ABV - full of flavour.

  11. Belgian perfection
    Review by Scott M

Extremely crisp and tasty for a boozy Belgian strong ale and doesn't taste anywhere near what you'd expect for an 8.5% beer. Very nice drinking beer which goes down very easily. Also love the theatre of the bottle and label design. Superb Belgian ale which doesn't take itself too seriously. Lovely stuff. (Posted on 19/06/2017)

  12. Great Belgian Beer
    Review by Gavin

I first came across this beer in the delirium bar in Brussels, possibly one of the greatest bars I've been to! Although strong its got a great taste and its easy to drink casually. (Posted on 13/06/2017)

A nice blend of flavours with a strong punch. Lighter than expected though with a sparkling consistency. (Posted on 26/02/2017)

  20. Shaking all over
    Review by Danny Boy

Really good example of a strong Belgian blonde/tripel. Nice balance of flavours. Very well known, and very well made. Something of a classic. (Posted on 05/02/2017)

  21. Belgian Standard
    Review by Scratty

Like most Belgian beers it's good but this is a cut above, you can feel the high ABV but the taste cuts through it, you can taste the flowery, fruity and herbal notes of the hops. Delirium is probably my favourite brand of Belgian beers. (Posted on 18/01/2017)

  22. Strong but flavoursome
    Review by OD

My favourite Belgian beer. Amazing with a Sunday roast! (Posted on 15/01/2017)

  23. Make mine a Babycham...
    Review by Paul

...Only kidding, this is a nice and strong Belgium beer which is light in colour. A really tasty beer and not too heavy (I had several in a sitting and the taste didn't diminish) (Posted on 13/01/2017)

  24. Dependable
    Review by TurboRay

Brought my 1st bottle of Delirium back from Brussels after Wales played Belgium! It's just as I remember! Strong, dependable Belgian blonde! Comes in a very decorative bottle, stops light protruding, I guess! (Posted on 24/12/2016)

  25. Lovely beer
    Review by Amy

Strong and very drinkable considering. One of my all time favourites (Posted on 21/12/2016)

  26. Strong and Golden
    Review by Shunt

A strong and fully packed flavoured beer. A nice bitterness which doesn't mask the subtle flowery notes of the yeast or sweetness of malt.
Well worth a try if you have never drunk this before. (Posted on 16/12/2016)

  27. One of the best
    Review by Sambo

Of the many Belgian beers I've tried this stands up as one of the finest. Always happy to drink this (Posted on 15/12/2016)

  28. Very good
    Review by Asmithy

Delirium was "elected" the best beer in the world, its very good but not the best (Posted on 26/11/2016)

  29. Great
    Review by K

    Fantastic beer (Posted on 29/10/2016)

  30. Nectar of the Belgian Gods
    Review by wgardner

It's like drinking a boozy, floral, strong nectar from the heavens. So easy to drink, and loads of bubble gum and floral notes. It's perhaps one of the best beers in the world. (Posted on 19/10/2016)

  31. Decent
    Review by Johnny

Clear golden body and a white non-descript head. Nice nose with sweetness of bubblegum, yeast, sweet bread,. Quite carbonated, with an off flavor on the finish. The nose on this beer is better than the flavor. Finish more disappointing. Hard to believe I’ve never rated this beer previously. (Posted on 26/09/2016)

  32. Standards.
    Review by EzraBurke

A standard Belgian strong. Peppery and hides the ABV very well. (Posted on 21/09/2016)

  33. Why did I wait so long
    Review by Ninja Terrier

Why did I wait so long to try this. This is possibly the nicest beer I have ever had. (Posted on 19/09/2016)

  34. Delicious
    Review by kevinblake

Strong beer, full of flavour - a firm favourite (Posted on 04/09/2016)

  35. Mmmmm
    Review by Mr Green

Not a session beer. A fantastic belgium beer. One of the best that Belgium has to offer. (Posted on 18/08/2016)

  36. A bold one
    Review by Bancini

wildly powerful brew, with lots of bitterness and a sweet finish. Quite boozy but goes down very easily. (Posted on 17/08/2016)

  37. Stunning
    Review by Elliot

A fantastic strong Belgian beer. Not one you can drink too many of but given it's strength it's relatively easy drinking. Lots of carbonation and a notable sweet finish at the end. Spot on. (Posted on 14/08/2016)

  38. Fantastic beer!
    Review by ChrisBaker108

Don't be expecting to drink more than one of these, it's very strong, but a fantastic flavour. (Posted on 27/07/2016)

  39. Fantastic
    Review by DrinkingEnthusiast

    Amazing beer (Posted on 24/06/2016)

  40. Deceptively drinkable
    Review by Jess

This is a good example of Belgian beer. Light and fruity it is deceptively drinkable for its abv. A favourite that I keep coming back to, time and time again. (Posted on 09/06/2016)

  41. One to be respected
    Review by JohnP

This is a delicious beer, very tasty, but far lighter in flavour than you might expect given its strength. Beware; its name is apt! Very refreshing, gently fruity and hoppy. Plus the bottle has pink elephants on it, what more can you ask for? (Posted on 09/06/2016)

  42. Easily drunk for such a high abv
    Review by Westy

Slightly sickly sweet to start, but balances out, true to a Belgian beer though, is very easy to drink considering its abv. Creamy head and good hop finish (Posted on 07/06/2016)

  43. Brutal
    Review by Rockmaker

this beer deserves respect. It has a deep rich flavour which lines the throat, this combined with an extremely flavoursome aftertaste , makes this beer one of my favourites. Whilst it goes down easily , beware , it has a kick like a mule ! (Posted on 23/05/2016)

  44. Still vibrating
    Review by Fyfie

Sweet then becomes quite earthy almost spicy. Does not drink 8.5% lovely. Even get a hint of Parma violets. Was desperate to try this beer now for a while and it did not disappoint. (Posted on 20/05/2016)

  45. Belgian strength
    Review by Londonjef

I had this Belgian strong in a pub yesterday. This is a fantastic Belgian strong beer. I would highly recommend!! (Posted on 01/05/2016)

  46. Mighty
    Review by Mr White

This mighty beer lives up to its reputation and holds its own as a truly individual beer. (Posted on 26/04/2016)

  47. Johnny
    Review by Johnny

Slightly hazy golden colour, frothy white head, some lacing. Aroma is malty, fruit, alcohol, yeast. Taste of sweet fruit, malt, slight herbal note, with a light bitterness and alcohol in the finish. (Posted on 11/04/2016)

  48. Lovely Stuff!
    Review by Kaz

Like many people I first tried this in Bruges and was delighted to find it on here. It's a fruity Belgian beer which at 8.5% packs a punch, but it doesn't taste that strong (so be careful!). I love the glass as well (Posted on 04/03/2016)

  49. Aptly named
    Review by Mean Green

You have to love a beer that is named for an alcohol withdrawal. Controversy! The beer is delicious. Doesn't feel like it's 8.5% so be careful. Fruity and complex with the distinct Belgian yeast flavour. Will drink again! (Posted on 18/02/2016)

  50. Fantastic
    Review by Jo

Wonderfully fruity, crisp and dry, so many different flavours. (Posted on 14/02/2016)

  51. Perfect beer
    Review by Lauren4591

Delirium beers are consistently good and this is no exception. This is one of the best beers I have ever had. It is smooth and mildly fruity and goes down very well. (Posted on 17/01/2016)

  52. Light and refreshing
    Review by Davego

This is a bright bubbly typical blonde Belgian beer, refreshing and light for a good session beer. (Posted on 17/01/2016)

  53. Strong!
    Review by Laura

First tried this on a night out in Brussels - dangerous but delicious! (Posted on 05/01/2016)

  54. Strong and not subtle
    Review by Jim Jimmeney

I first drank this beer in \"t Brugs Beertje\" in Bruges on what started as a quiet afternoon of investigation and Museum visiting well one beer can\'t hurt I thought so several hours later I was friends with most of the bar and this is the one that really sticks in the memory of the more than 2 beers I drank that day. You know you are drinking a strong beer with Delirium but the flavour is great. (Posted on 17/12/2015)

  55. Deceptive
    Review by kobayashi

This is a great beer, good balance, though the strength comes through more than say, Gouden Carolus. This will go down great on Saturday. Not sure about Sunday morning! (Posted on 05/12/2015)

  56. Brill
    Review by Tim the RAT

This Belgian number is excellent. (Posted on 30/11/2015)

  60. Fruity, drinkable, and hard-hitting
    Review by GlühweinGeek

Wonderfully fruity, almost a bubble-gum flavour to the Delirium Tremens. Strongly recommended to try - strong, but not overpoweringly so. (Posted on 07/05/2015)

  61. Boom...

  64. Deceptively strong and easy drinking!
    Review by AJC

Quite possibly one of the easiest drinking beers considering its strength. Beautiful presentation as always from Huyghe Brewery, from bottle to glass. Best served slightly chilled in a Delirium glass of course! Highly recommended. (Posted on 31/12/2014)
