BrewDog Jack Hammer

BrewDog Jack Hammer

Style IPA
Country British Beers
ABV 7.2%
Serving Temp 6 to 8 °C
Bottle Size 330ml
Typically bold. Typically bitter. Typically BrewDog. Lots of spicy, citrusy, and peppery hops are complemented by a solid maltiness. Notes of resin, lemon, and other citrus are lifted by this American-style IPA’s dry finish and carbonation. This is a good, clean beer and a total palette-blaster! BrewDog Jack Hammer won a Bronze Medal at the World Beer Awards 2015 in the category United Kingdom - Imperial IPA.

  • Bang...

    Review by AdyG

Bang; boom; boosh. Just as an IPA should be: hoppy; citrusy; high ABV. Loved it (Posted on 02/08/2017)

  • Excellent

    Review by MrDeek

This beer is seriously good, it goes down perhaps a little bit too easily. The bitterness is quite strong but works really well. (Posted on 26/07/2017)

  • Good beer

    Review by GNPN

Good beer. Just like Punk IPA but with a bigger alcohol and bitter hit. (Posted on 21/07/2017)

  • Fiendishly hoppy

    Review by Beer_Baron

Excellent, strong hoppy beer from BrewDog. A lovely IPA to warm the cockles of your heart. Possibly a bit too boozey-tasting which masks some of the finer flavours (Posted on 19/07/2017)

    Review by Shunt

This beer carries 250 IBU (International Bitterness Units) - when you compare this to most IPA's which have about 40-60 and a standard real ale which is about 20-30 you realise that BrewDog are not messing about here.
Its hard to taste anything but the slicing bitterness that assaults your tongue here. I love my IPA's but this a little too far for me. (Posted on 08/07/2017)

  • I can hammer this all day

    Review by Jj

Lovely stuff, nice balance despite the bitterness, abc is perfect and makes this another easy to drink IPA (Posted on 28/06/2017)

  • This packs a punch of hoppy bitterness

    Review by Simon

If strong, hoppy, bitter IPA is not your thing then don't buy this beer. I got some Jackhammer for Xmas for my Brother as I knew he loved the Punk IPA, well I never got to taste that so I had to order some for myself. I can imagine for many this will be over the top, too bitter and too hoppy; it has to be the most intense IPA I've ever had. Nice to have the odd can as the flavour lingers in your mouth for ages. Not a session beer like the Punk IPA, but still an interesting, innovative offer from the excellent Brewdog brewery. (Posted on 31/05/2017)

  • Very bitter

    Review by Jonathan

A bit too bitter for my liking. I'd go for Hardcore IPA if i wanted a strong Brewdog beer. (Posted on 30/05/2017)

  • Really good IPA

    Review by Scrufftyguy

Like a turbocharged Punk IPA. Nice. (Posted on 16/05/2017)

  • Bad

    Review by John

This beer has a really strong bitterness to it, it really did not live up to the reviews that I had read prior to drinking it. (Posted on 02/04/2017)

  • Not too sure

    Review by IPA LAD

Smells very citrusy (as do all Brewdog beers) but the Jack Hammer differs in terms of its taste as it has almost a fizzy lager taste to it upon first sip, after this it hits you with an overwhelming strength and bitterness. This is a good beer which could have been great had they not tried to fit all the strength into it. (Posted on 02/04/2017)

  • VERY bitter IPA

    Review by Brew Den

Having read Brew Dog's own website I brushed off their description of "This beer is bitter. Very bitter." as hype. Well they were right. It is incredibly bitter. It makes the beer taste "strong". At 7.2% it isn't exactly weak but the IBU rating of 200+ is not up my street I'm afraid. Aside from that the initial taste is pleasing but it's quickly consumed by bitterness. Good if you like that kind of thing. (Posted on 22/02/2017)

  • One of my top 10 drinkd

    Review by Bomb flavour

This is one of Brew dog’s best in my opinion, full of the citrus bomb flavours I expect to find in the robust drink, an excellent drink for a Saturday evening, and the more the better. (Posted on 19/02/2017)

  • Strong tasting

    Review by dazzler

Bit too much of a strong taste for me, not to my liking though (Posted on 08/02/2017)

  • classic

    Review by ultan

this is my go to IPA and has been for years. A truly consistently hoppy beer thats not too sweet and has the right blend of hops to make it interesting. (Posted on 07/12/2016)

  • Intensely Hoopy

    Review by Andrew

An interesting change up from Punk IPA but in doing so it loses some of the flavor in exchange for the epic bitterness.

Still very easy to drink and if you're sampling Brewdog's finest this is one to add to your list. (Posted on 10/10/2016)

  • My favourite of the Brewdog offerings

    Review by JB

This stuff is superb, punchy and just lovely real flavour. If you haven't tried this - you must! (Posted on 22/09/2016)

  • A Hard Case

    Review by Ninja Terrier

OMG I got the feeling that this was going to mess with my head the moment I opened the can. There is nothing subtle about this brew it has lots of flavour and enough ABV to seriously mess with your head. (Posted on 20/09/2016)

  • Jack Slammer

    Review by Rick

Going by the name alone, I was expecting a punch in the tastebuds, but in fact this is a sheep in wolf's clothing.. Yes there is tangy sourness, but still refreshing and quaffable.

Goes down so well, you might need to pace yourself as it is stronger than it tastes! (Posted on 18/09/2016)

  • An Amped up Punk

    Review by Elliot

This is really just an amped up Punk - and there's nothing wrong with that! Real hit of citrusy hops and a crisp bitter finish. Awesome. (Posted on 15/08/2016)

  • Bitter bomb

    Review by Ben

Very bitter, with plenty of hop character. Orange and grapefruit peel, pale grains, grass, and a slightly sweet dank finish. (Posted on 29/07/2016)

  • Bloody lovely!

    Review by Sam

Fantastic, definitely a classic example of the American IPA gone wild. Citrus, spice, grapefruit, lime, lemon, slight mango and a lovely sustained bitter finish. Will be ordering many more! (Posted on 02/07/2016)

Love this beer and it sails down too easily, lots of citrus and a dry finish. (Posted on 31/05/2016)

  • Tasty, flavoursome, very hoppy

    Review by Westy

This is a slightly challenging beer, strong and defined hop bite, but very tasty, citric finish (Posted on 29/05/2016)

  • Down thi 'atch

    Review by Oppers

This is an awesome brew. Strong but doesn't taste it compared to other same strength ales. Awesome fruity flavour mashed with potent hops boost. Well recommended. I think this is the nicest BrewDog they do! (Posted on 27/05/2016)

Absolute delight of an IPA. Nice and hoppy at the back, nice carbonation to it, lovely looking. An absolute must for any fans of IPA. (Posted on 12/05/2016)

  • Great beer

    Review by Chris H

A Brewdog classic, great "go to" beer suitable for any occasion. Would happily buy again. (Posted on 15/04/2016)

  • My palate surrenders.

    Review by Llamaman

A huge burst of grapefruit - tangy and bitter. A hint of maltiness, but that's not what Brewdog are about, is it?
    Hops, hops and more hops.
Subtlety and balance take a break as your palate goes several rounds with this beast. (Posted on 28/03/2016)

  • Boosh...

    Review by Ady Gray

Yep, BrewDog does it again with this hoppy, citrus, peppery can of quality ale... (Posted on 17/12/2015)

  • One of my favourite IPAs

    Review by Oli

Powerful and hoppy - This is one I would recommend for anyone who has tried a Punk IPA and has enjoyed it. It's basically a nicer version! (Posted on 07/11/2015)

Very bitter, citrussy, OK, not a light drink! Wouldn't order specifically, but wouldn't be too upset if gifted a bottle! (Posted on 27/04/2015)

  • copy cat American IPA

    Review by bammers1954

this is a nearly beer, well made, nice hoppy finish but just lacks a bit of class to make it really good. Enjoyed but I don't think I'll be back for more (Posted on 11/01/2015)
