Honey is the Belgians’ go to when doing sweetness in beer and Brasserie LeFebvre’s Barbar isn’t one to buck that particular trend. It’s golden amber and delightfully clear. The aroma is all honey with a little bit of vanilla and a promise of booziness and there’s the ever present estery Belgian yeast. To taste, the sweetness is quite subtle, it’s backed up by a light spiciness and the promise of booze is fulfilled and then some. There’s a pleasing fizz which helps bring out the malts. A beer for a feast, this beer is dubbed the warrior’s beer by Brasserie Lebvre and sipping this, you can imagine yourself surrounded by your rowdy battle-brothers (and sisters) singing loudly and proudly of your most recent glories.
