Nethergate IPA

Nethergate IPA

In the case of this English take on a low-ABV IPA, 'IPA' also stands for 'Ian and Paul's Ale' as a nod to two of Nethergate's top brewers. At an eminently sessionable 3.5%, this light IPA is crisp, refreshing and slightly bitter, with toffee malts and subtle flavours of citrus fruit.

The brewery was born in 1986, in the small town of Clare, in Suffolk. Like many great ideas it was conceived in a pub between two friends, one a business man and the other a Micro Biologist.....the perfect team to set a brewery up.The business was sold in 2010 and after 24 years The team that bought the brewery consisted of 3 brewery executives and an accountant......and it turns out they are a perfect team to buy a brewery too winning over 40 awards since then and the prestigious Brewery of the year award from the good pub guide in 2012!
  1. what a le tdown Review by Biz

Probably the worst beer i've had from Beerhawk. It's in the same band as Carling and Fosters. Just awful. Cheap tasting beer at premium price.

Pleasant, nothing special (Posted on 06/06/2016)

  3. great session ale Review by Chunks

Cracking taste and makes for a great session ale (Posted on 07/02/2016)

  4. Lack of bite in the growler Review by Ady Gray

To be frank, it does what it says on the tin: session ale. It lacks bite and punch but is a satisfying session ale. It just doesn't do what I want an IPA to do... (Posted on 01/03/2015)

  5. Bought it for it's name! Review by MegaHops

I'm going to be honest, I bought this IPA specifically because I wanted to taste the Old Growler. A refreshing tasty beverage which was thoroughly enjoyed. (Posted on 26/11/2014)

Delivery was unbelievably fast. I ordered a case of Born to Die. Superb beer but a tad on the expensive side.
Easy to use website, only problem was too much choice as it all looked good. Delivery went to plan, which was important as it was a thank you gift.
This was a present delivered [eventually] to the recipient. I was very disappointed to hear from you that the recipient was not available to receive the package at the time you indicated. This was NOT true and no card was found through the letterbox! After the weekend when we had investigated and contacted you we heard that the package had been damaged [??]. Eventually a second package was delivered and I am sure the quality will be fine. However it was not a good introduction to Beerhawk for me. Two different stories seem very suspicious.
