Golden Ale

The ubiquitous Golden ale.  Every brewery and brewer seems to start off brewing a golden ale so you’d be forgiven for thinking they’ve been around for ages.  Golden ales though are relatively recent addition and a development of the pale ale style. In Britain these were first produced as recently as the 1980s as traditional brewers tried to fight off the advance of mass produced lager.  They are characterised by a biscuit malt flavour derived from pale malts and more often than not have a fruity aroma.  Designed to be served cool, they are light, thirst-quenching ales and usually under 5%.
